NIGHTMERES POV,
"Hello Miss Insanity, it's nice to see you again this year! Hop in, hop in, take a seat! welcome!" The same old bus driver said the same old thing as he did every year on the first day of school. I've had the same bus driver for three years know that I've just started my first day of grade two. I smiled and waved slightly as I climbed up the steps to the main hall of the bus, I kept my head down as I plopped down into the first seat of the bus as I had always done. I was startled when I heard a squealish boy voice beside me.
"Hi, my name is Axl!" A small hand was shoved in my face. oh great choice new kid, you just started a talking with the schools freak. Ithoughtto myself as I look up at the boy and shook his hand gently. his eyes were a bright ocean blue, he had a long boyish haircut and abnormally puffy red lips for a boy.
"I'm Nightmere, it's nice to meet you...i'm guessing you're new to Mustang Public School, am I right?" Axl looked down at his dangling feet with a shy smile.
"Yeah..." I huffed as if to say "go figures" and let out a laugh.
"Do you know who you have as a teacher? I could show you to him/her." axles eyes brightened up more as delight crossed his face.
"I have miss Hammy." I cringed at this boys excitement.
"I think I have her to.. so just follow me when I get off the bus." Axl gave me a quick nod before we were submerged into a comfortable silence. not long after that the bus had stopped to let us off and I led the way to find our new teacher with axl following close behind me like a lost puppy.
~first recess~
Axl and I had been seated side by side and I was instructed to show axl around the school, so when it came time to go outside for recess I was pretty much immune to him clutching my hand every where we went like he was going to get lost but my hand was actually starting to get tingly by the time we had reached what my bullys called the witch pot (it's where I would hang out with my real friends, the ones nobody else could see).
"Alright axl this is what the dorks here call the witch pot it's the only place I can play without getting teased and know that you've been following me around, my guess is that it's going to be the same way for you. the people here don't like me because I'm different... my mommy thinks i'm just special..." I said in a monotone voice. Axl gave me a sweet luagh before speaking.
"You seem normal to me." i shook my head and smiled as blush invaded my face.
"thanks Axl..." i used a shy tone of voice and i sat down in front of the concrete hole in the ground. Axl sat down beside me and looked down at his lap.
"So... this is your safe place?"i nodded and picked at the grass around us knowing that one of the many hateful eye at this school were watching me from a distance. I quickly looked around and saw the source of the glare. Kenny, Kenny Bites...
"Is there something wrong between you and that kid?" I nodded slowly without breaking eye contact with Kenny.
"He teases me a lot, my sister, Tracy, is usually here to protect me though, she punched him in the face once when he called me a bad name..." Axl gave me a slightly nervous look when Kenny finally decided to get off the gravel and walk towards us. I quickly stood up knowing what was coming. "stay quiet..." I whispered to Axl before Kenny approached us.
"Nightmere, I thought you wouldn't be coming back to school... I thought you would've died by now..." Kenny chuckled even though I didn't even bother to react to him.
"Well I thought you would've gotten smarter, and maybe a few pounds lighter, I guess we were both wrong Kendick!" I smiled mischievously as I heard my sisters laugh from a few paces away and Kenny's face became flushes with anger.
"Nice one Night!" My sister laughed and put an arm around my shoulder. "oh what's wrong Kendrick? Cats got your tongue! Go on now, shoo, stop waisting precious time!" Tracy flicked the end of Kenny's nose before he walked away with his hands pathetically balled up into tiny little fists. both Trace and I burst out laughing simultaneously as we looked at each other.
"Thank you for making Kenny go away Trace..." Tracy knelt down and ruffled my hair with hair hand with a smile.
"Anytime little Sis! Just try to stay out of trouble, I don't want to see you get hurt. okay?" I nodded quickly and watched as she walked away before I look down at a very amused Axl.
