He lost. Eclipse actually lost. Banished to a forest with no one to help his quickly degrading state, Eclipse has to decide between his dignity or death.
And, on...
Lunar can't help but bounce excitedly as his brother reaches up to grab the jar of cookies on the top shelf, his tail lashing back and forth in anticipation. He brings his hands up to play with the end of his cap, messing with the tuft of wool that perches on the tip.
"Moon is going to kill me." Eclipse murmurs, glancing down to Lunar, of whom flashes a cheeky grin in his direction. With a shake of his head, he lowers the jar into Lunar's reach.
"Three. That's it." Eclipse says sternly, earning an enthusiastic nod from his little brother.
Lunar shoves his hands into the jar once the lid is removed, grabbing the three biggest cookies despite them all being relatively the same size. He pauses, contemplating grabbing a fourth despite Eclipse's warning, but ultimately decides against it and pulls his hands back out of the jar, taking his beloved sweets with him.
Before long, he has begun to shove the baked goods in his mouth, watching Eclipse return the jar to it's place on the shelf that he retrieved it from.
"Thwank ywou." Lunar murmurs around his mouth full of cookie, giving Eclipse a chipper, crumb-tainted grin as his older brother chuckles and reaches over, ruffling the smaller animatronic's nightcap.
"Mwovie?" Lunar tilts his head, big eyes round with silent intensity as Eclipse gives him a quizzical look.
"What?"
"Mwovie!" Lunar repeats, trying to emphasize the word around his mouth full of cookie.
"...movie? Is that what you're saying?" Eclipse asks hesitantly, letting out a hum as Lunar gives him an eager nod. However, the eldest simply frowns and shakes his head at that.
"I have things to do, Lunar. Maybe later."
Lunar deflates like a balloon, but makes no complaint aside from the expression that screams heartbreak on his little face. His tail lowers, brushing against the floor miserably.
Eclipse eyes him wearily for a moment, watching the sadness and acceptance set in on his little brother's face. Part of him aches for Lunar, wishing that his responsibilities would wait for a better time, while the rest of him fizzles with annoyance at Lunar's lack of respect for Eclipse's own agenda.
"Okay." Lunar murmurs, having swallowed the cookie during Eclipse's contemplation.
For a few moments longer, Eclipse gazes solemnly at his kin. He changed for Lunar, did he not? He tried to turn over a new leaf so that he could connect with those that he pushed away, and Lunar just happened to be at the top of that list at the time. Now, he's realized how many others he owes apologies to.
Amidst his desperation to satisfy everyone, Eclipse realizes, in a horrified sort of way, that he's...he's been neglecting Lunar, hasn't he?
His mouth thins into a grim line. The shame bears down on him with an agonizing, ever-encompassing weight.
"....what would we watch?" Eclipse looks away, bringing a hand up to rub nervously at his arm. Lunar looks up at him then, curiosity taking the place of some of his despair.
"But you said-"
"Forget what I said. What movie did you want to watch?" Eclipse cuts in, voice sharp, leaving no room for debate.
Whereas that tone may have intimidated Lunar only a few months prior, the most he does is twitch a little and smile nervously now.
"I was going to leave that up to you." He admits, earning a curt nod.
"Lion King." Eclipse says simply, smiling softly as Lunar lights up once again. He lets out a giggle and latches onto Eclipse's leg, hugging him tightly with a huge, bright smile on his face.
Eclipse can't help but let out a small laugh himself, reaching down to pry Lunar off, only to bring him up into a warm, inviting hug of his own.
"Piggy back ride! Piggy back ride!" Lunar cheers, clinging to his brother while gazing up at him with big, pleading eyes.
Eclipse relents with a sigh.
"Fine, but I'm only doing this for you."
With that, both brothers head off towards the main room to begin their movie, Lunar leaning over Eclipse's shoulder like a monkey as they go.
