Chapter 26 - I gotta go

Eyeball lay sleeping in the hospital bed, wires and tubes going in and out of his body. The faint beeping of the machine monitoring his life signs filled the room.
The nurse had finished setting up another IV drip, attaching the tube to the one half out of his arm. She clipped the blood bag up onto the side as she lightly let her fingers brush over the label stuck to the bag.

Donor: Christopher Chambers 23/08/1970
She turned as she focused on Magnolia's sleeping body in the hospital bed beside him. Double checking her machines, she set about sorting out her extra blood transfusion.
As she had with Eyeball's, her fingers set up the tube before hanging the blood bag up on its clip.
"You sure that's the only spare blood of that type you had?" Betsy's voice was heard as the nurse turned to her.
"I'm sorry Miss, your stepsister has a very rare blood type." The nurse tried to explain as Betsy came closer.
"I know, but how come her dad doesn't have it?"
"It appears to have followed the maternal line. This is one of the only other donors we had registered in the state of Oregon." The nurse spoke apologetically.
"You're a nurse of science... do you believe in fate?" Betsy asked with a small sigh as she looked down at her sleeping stepsister, lightly brushing some of her hair from her face.
"I'm sorry, I don't understand... is this because of the donor?" The nurse asked confused as she pointed up to the bag of blood hanging from the drip that was going into Magnolia.
Betsy's eyes drifted up to the label...

"No... no reason." Betsy mumbled as she looked back down at Magnolia, once more brushing the hair from her face.

"And so basically there's this massive big shitstorm in which Magnolia's dad demanded Eyeball's immediate resignation from the school." Charlie tried to explain. "He wasn't even allowed to go to the graduation of Magnolia's year, not that she graduated obviously."
"Hayley broke up with him too, and kicked him out, never known a girl to run from Eyeball so fast." Billy laughed as the group walked along.
"Not that he can chase after her with his cast on." Vince quickly added.
"He looks well funny with that on." Jack almost giggled.
"We've already covered it with doodles of dicks so you should be proud of us." Fuzzy spoke with a grin.
Ace looked around at them all as they all walked along the streets. He took a big deep breath of the fresh air, finally happy to be finally free from prison.
"Where is the little invalid anyway?" Ace spoke as Billy pointed to Ace's old place just up the street.
