*Kariss*
Marc grinned broadly as we walked through the paddock.
Mugello was going well for him. Maybe even more than that.
After the last few really terrible months, things were going really well for him here at Mugello, even after the tests in Barcelona. He even seemed to be floating a little bit.
He had secured fourth place on the grid in qualifying and then moved up to third in the sprint race. That was, compared to the results before, really great.
So was his smile.
He had such an infectious smile and when he laughed, no one could really stay serious. I had become very accustomed by now to this warmth and good humor that seemed to surround him all the time.
This joy that he radiated and I could feel how much his mood could also relax me.
If he was in a good mood, somehow I was too.
If he was relaxed, so was I.
But so could his tension roll over on me. If it was shortly before the race, it seemed as if our nervousness would synchronize immediately.
But now it was still a long time until the race. We had just arrived.
Nevertheless, I immediately became nervous and this did not escape Marc.
Gently, he nudged me with his shoulder "You seem nervous.", he said calmly.
"No, I'm fine.", I smiled, but felt how tense I was. I didn't know if Leo was there yet, but I couldn't wait to finally see him again.
I really missed him.
"Leo?" he asked, I nodded without looking at him.
"You don't have to worry." he smirked "I'm sure he'll be immensely happy to see you again. It would be the same for me, anyway. So if I hadn't seen my girlfriend in so long.", he gently poked me in the side "Hey, relax Kari. If you were my girlfriend, I would be completely crazy about you, I would drop everything to be with you and I'm sure he wouldn't feel any different.", I gave him a confused sideways glance "You know how I mean it.", he put his arm over my shoulder and smiled "Don't stress so much, guapa.", he hugged me a little tighter before letting go of me with a smile.
I felt that calmness move through me again.
Marc really had a blatant effect on me. I was sure I had never experienced anything like it. No one had ever been able to affect my mood like that with his mood. It was crazy. But I was totally grateful to him, right now, that he could, because I felt myself coming down a little bit. That was important, because I was still here to work. Not to meet my boyfriend. I had to concentrate. And that went much better when I was relaxed.
Marc stroked this wide grin across his lips as he turned to me, now walking backwards "We're going to rock the race for now.", he held his fist out for me to punch.
"We're rocking the race.", I laughed and slammed my fist in.
He smiled and then headed to his motorhome while I made my way to the pits.
Leo was already grinning widely when he could hear my footsteps.
"Well, you all right?" he smiled and pulled the chair back next to him.
"Fine.", I nodded and dropped down next to him "And yourself? Sleep well?".
"Probably as much as you did.", he laughed "How could I sleep when we really have a chance to score good points today?".
"Felt the same way.", I laughed and pulled out my notebook.
He grinned "God how I love that you have as much of a notebook fetish as I do. It just feels so much better to write things on paper than to do it digitally." he gushed.
