I felt Adam's hand on my waist as I peered at my reflection in the mirror in front of me.
"You look gorgeous babe," he told me.
"Thanks! You know, you don't look too bad yourself," I said as I smirked at him. Tonight was Cara's New Year's party, and I was a bit anxious. She was inviting nearly every star I could think of, and I couldn't help but wonder what would happen if I ran into one of my exes. Luckily, it was a masquerade ball, and I could conceal myself beneath a mask.
"I can't wait to kiss you at midnight," Adam whispered.
"We don't have to wait until midnight," I said as I pulled him in for a kiss. His lips pressed against mine and I could feel his stubble tickle my face. I pulled away to remind him that we'd better get going. A limo was waiting outside my apartment and the minute we stepped out the door we were blinded by flashing cameras. I had gotten used to it but sometimes I wished I could just live a normal life with my boyfriend. I stepped in the limo after Adam and the chauffeur closed the door behind me. Adam had already grabbed the bottle of champagne and began pouring it into glasses. He tapped a fork against his glass, making a dinging sound.
"I'd like to make a toast, to my beautiful Taylor and a great new year." I smiled, feeling embarrassed even though it was only him and I. I raised my glass and winked at him. I got out of my seat and handed the driver a cd. He inserted it into the CD player and a blast of familiar music rang throughout the limo. I watched as a smile stretched across Adam's face, it was his #1 hit--Summer. We danced all the way to Cara's party, he giggled as I did some of my awkward moves. It was 9:00 when we arrived, he opened the door and helped me out of the car like a true gentleman. As we walked up the steps, I felt like I was in a fairytale, and Calvin was my prince. We entered the ballroom and I gazed around in awe. Everything was so elegant and beautiful. Masked women and men covered the floor, and I couldn't tell who anyone was. Cara greeted me by the door and welcomed Adam and I to her party.
"Lily and Karlie are over in that corner," she shouted. The music was overbearingly loud. Adam and I headed towards them, politely pushing our way through the hundreds of celebrities. Karlie awkwardly ran towards me in her six inch heels and wrapped me in her arms.
"Isn't this place just gorgeous?!" She asked me.
"
Yeah! I can't believe Cara did this all."
"Well she did have some help. Lily, Martha and I arrived here at six to decorate."
"Oh, well it looks beautiful Karlie. You did a great job!"
"Hey Calvin, how are you doing?"
"Great, thanks for asking." He responded. It sounded so weird to me when I heard people call him Calvin. To me, he was Adam.
