KINN'S POV.
6:30 AM, Friday. I am already half-awake when my alarm starts, my body already used to this as it has its own alarm for having the same wake up routine every day. I turn it off, check my phone just to find work related stuff and some silly message from Khun, my best friend who just spends his time watching shows and tells me all about them, as if I care. I reply to his text and head to the bathroom. I take a shower, get dressed and I am having breakfast by 7:15 AM. I finish my breakfast by 7:35 AM and leave my house.
I normally take the bus to get to work: I work at a company called Bubbles, Co., which as its name may indicate, manufactures and elaborates bubble making kits for kids. It may sound like a small company with no relevance but truth is, its business has been rising for a few years now, they are the main toy company in Thailand and is getting business internationally as well.
I don't know why, okay? People just randomly started liking bubbles, we saw the same happening with board games during the pandemic; suddenly everyone was playing Uno or Monopoly online. I was hired two years ago at 26 years old, as an AVP (Assistant Vice President), and now business has gotten so big that they are getting another AVP to help with the work load.
Bubbles, Co. is not too far away from my house, so I mainly get there by bus and I return jogging, to not miss my daily work out. I am at the office at 7:50 AM, get myself a coffee and head to my office.
My work consists of overseeing departments within the company to make sure goals are being met. I am in charge of developing company-wide policies and strategies; I provide analysis regarding the company's performance so top management can use and I also oversee promotions, or do screening for new hires in management positions.
It wasn't so much work until Bubbles decided to expand business in all the continent of America, so I asked to have a co-AVP to help me with tasks and they agreed, seeing as they are really in need of more people now.
My Friday goes by as normal, I work mainly in my office, send reports to Pete who is the CEO's assistant, all the tasks I complete have to be screened by Pete and then he sends them to our CEO. We don't have much time to socialize these days, but I like Pete, he is always nice and he is funny to talk to when we're not discussing work.
"Here are the reports for the analysis I made on last week's performance" I hand the files and add: "I also sent them to your email, so please check it out and let me know if anything is missing."
"That's great Kinn, I'll be checking them after lunch." He said balancing the pile of files, the coffee and the laptop on his arms. The man is the most multitasking person I've ever seen. And he loves being it also. "Did you hear the other AVP is coming on Monday?" Pete asks.
"Boss didn't tell me anything yet. I bet he'll tell me later." I reply. "Do you know anything about this new person?" I ask.
Pete shakes his hands in excitement and whispers: "Yes! He's actually a friend of mine, he applied online and passed all the interviews. In HR they say he was delightful, which doesn't surprise me to be honest, but don't worry!" he adds when I make a worried face "He's actually great at work, he's just very hyperactive."
"Okay, I'll be waiting to meet him, but more importantly, I'll be waiting for him to help with the work load." Pete laughs.
"I bet you are. Boss is also looking for someone to co-assist with me."
"Took them time to realize." I reply.
"I know, right?"
Pete leaves when he gets a text from boss so he says goodbye and heads out the door.
Because is Friday, I finish work at 3:00 PM. I put on another shirt and head home jogging, today I arrive home at 3:35 PM. Normally I meet with Khun on Fridays but today he's busy until late so my plan consists of ordering in and drink beer while watching TV. Boss texts me at around 5:00 PM saying they had just hired someone and I was meeting him next Monday. I thank him and proceed with my Friday plan.
