I sat in the front passenger seat and waited for everyone to come out so that we can go.
I really can't believe my mom, my dad is gone; the least she can do is come up to the lake house for my birthday. Yes she's moved on, she's with David but it's my birthday. That's all I ask of her.
The driver door opened and Jack got in, "are you okay?" He asked.
"I'm fine, can we go." I said.
He started up the van and waited for everyone to climb in. Sammy finally packed the bags in the trunk and climbed in.
"Let's go have a good time." Nate said. Not even a few minutes on the road, there was loud chewing.
"Who's chewing again?" Sammy asked.
Johnson and Sammy bickered the whole ride because of Johnson's loud chewing. These people eat too much, can't go one minute without someone chewing on something.
"If you are going to chew, at least share with the group Johnson." I said and held out my hand.
"She speaks." he joked and poured some Cheetos in my hand.
I turned back around and ate some Cheetos. I looked to my left to see Jack smiling at me secretly.
A few hours later, we finally made it to the lake house; we had to do a couple break stops but finally made it without hitting traffic.
Jack pulled up to the lake house and put the van in park. I got out and grabbed the keys from Jack, I walked up the steps and unlocked the front door.
I stepped in and instantly got flashbacks, it still smells like my dad around in here.
I miss him so much. I really do. This house reminds me of him. Everything about him. I fell to my knees and sobbed into my hands. I felt someone get close to me and their arms wrapped around me.
"Shh, let it out." I heard jacks voice. He rubbed my back as I laid my head on his chest and cried out. At this point, everyone was in the house staring at what was happening.
"I'm okay." I said. He kissed my head and we both stood up. I helped bring in groceries and luggage. Everyone went to pick their bedrooms, but I lugged my bag up to my room.
I don't want everyone to think jack and I have something going on so I let jack take my dad's bedroom, which is right next door to mines.
I set my bag near the bed and sat down. Jack peeked his head in, "the guys are preparing hamburgers outside, let's head down and see the cooler." He said. He gave me a warm smile and I stood up. I walked over to him, I looked in the hallway to see it's clear.
I kissed jack quick before exiting my room and heading downstairs. "Smells good down here." I said and grabbed a white claw from the cooler.
"The guys are outback grilling patties for the burgers. We're just making some cocktails if you want to join." Madison said.
"Sure." I said and walked over to where they were, I popped open my can as I watched jack head outback with the guys.
"So what are we making today." I said and took a sip.
"I never got the chance to ask but how you been? Since your dad passed, I know it must be hard being up here for your birthday." Claudia asked as she salt the rims on the cups.
"Coping. I'll be fine, this weekend will go great. All positive thoughts." I smiled at her and took another sip.
"Hey Luna, I think the girls and I got this, why don't you go see if the guys need help with anything." Madison said.
