"Well thanks, I appreciate it, but really I just need to eat or something and we can go our separate ways." Cressida said.
"Oh. I thought maybe we could travel together. I have no idea where to go, and you seem like you have a destination," Raze replied.
"I'm sorry, what? We just met. This isn't like the fairytales we were told as kids. We aren't going to band together, have a great adventure, and save the world as we know it," Cressida remarked.
"I wasn't suggesting anything like that, actually. Just that maybe we could literally go to the same place since I have no where else to go," Raze said.
"That's another thing. What do you mean, you don't have anywhere else to go? Your hair is clean cut and your clothes aren't too shabby. Plus you're way too nice to live away from the public housing zones," Cressida replied.
"Maybe you're just too rude to appreciate the nice things people do," Raze said with an even tone.
"You," she poked his chest, "still didn't answer the question."
"I didn't realize I had to," He shot back.
"It would make it a lot easier if you did," She responded.
"I don't know why!" Raze said with exasperation, "I know how it happened just not why. That better?"
"That makes zero sense," Cressida replied.
"What about you? Lying on the ground and being rude as hell when I'm trying to help you isn't very nice," he fired back.
"What if I was some crazy person? You could have been seriously hurt and all you were trying to do was be nice. Life isn't fair," Cressida said, "people are alone for their own reasons. Feel special now?"
"Yeah we all have problems but that doesn't give you any fucking excuses not to be nice. So your past or even present hasn't been the best but that doesn't mean you have to share your anger with the world. It's a shitty place out here already, you wanna make it worse? That's all you're doing with that kind of stupid attitude," he professed.
"Who even thinks like that? No one is nice anymore. It's rare to find some one out there who doesn't just want your money. You obviously have no clue how the world works," Cressida uttered.
"A sharp tongue is no indication of a keen mind. You can fire off all you want and maybe feel better about whatever all this anger is about but at the end of the day all you'll be is alone," Raze came back with.
"At least I won't have to waste my breath on someone like you," Cressida yelled.
"I am not your mother, don't yell at me," Raze said, more calmly.
"Is there no way to win with you? If I promise to miss you, will you go away?" Cressida asked.
"I'd love to do just that, but in all honesty there is a certain kind of strength in numbers, even numbers that don't like each other," Raze explained.
"You should come with a warning label," she said as she rolled her eyes. "I already told you, no. "
"Well we can both see how you did alone! Scratched and scraped up , looking dead and then going off on me for trying to help," Raze exclaimed.
Cressida thought to herself that maybe she could let him come along for a while and then lose him. She was tired of fighting and figured this way was as good as any. "You may have a point," She practically growled.
"Thank you," he says with obvious relief. "So, where to?"
