"Summer bachelors like summer breezes, are never as cool as they pretend to be." - Nora Ephron
Preston's POV
A dark grey warehouse came into view as Rob pulled up alongside of the Ferrari. The cars were both parked in a shaded area, a little but away from the warehouse. I looked behind us and saw the sun halfway across the sky. It seems to be around three of four o'clock. Which means we have about three or four hours before night sets in.
A light tap came from my window, making me jump a bit. I'm so on edge right now, and I'm not talking about the edge of glory. I quietly opened up my door and saw Mitch, Lachlan, snd Vikk crouched on the side of the car.
Rob looked back and gave me a silent nod, indicating me that it's time to get this plan started. I nodded back and slowly slide out of the car. Brandon joined me and closed the door behind us."Lachlan, Vikk, and I are going to go to the West side, that's where Matt said the money should be."
I took the pen out of my pocket and got it ready to use.
"How are you going to get inside? Is there a door on the West side?"
"Yeah, It was electronic so Matt was able to hack into it. But the one on the East side is manual. Those are the only two doors."
I nodded and started crouch walking to the red Ferrari. Brandon was right behind me, waiting to strike at any minute. I peeked over at the east side and saw that the coast was clear. Vikk looked over at me and gace me a thumbs up, I gave him one in return.
Mitch threw up a three with his fingers, counting down the moment we go in. A second later he threw up two fingers. I could barely hear my surroundings because my heart was attacking my ribcage. Everything will be okay, I have to believe everything thing will be okay.
Mitch threw up a one and started moving across the street, follwed by little Lachy and Vikk. This was me and Brandons queue to move.
I began crouch walking across the street, trying to go as fast as I could. But let's be real you can only go so fast when your crouching.
There was a big box of scrap metal on the East side that made perfect cover for Brandon and I. We went up the the box and crouched beside it.
"Dude, whatever happens I just want to say It was a pleasure meeting you."
Brandon whispered in my ear and scouted out the area a bit.
"Shut up, you're going to make me even more nervous."
I whispered back and moved towards the large metal door with the pen Vikk gave me in hand.
"Hey what are you-"
Fear spiked through me like a snipe, as I heard something with a booming voice behind us. I looked back with panic in mind and saw a medium sized guy passed out on the ground.
Brandon dragged the knocked out body towards the scrap metal box and put him inside with little to no noise. I took my eyes away from Brandon and focused on the half picked lock in my hands.
"Don't worry, I just knocked him out. He won't be a problem."
A little chuckle came from me as I heard the lock finally pop open. Popping a lock is a lot like popping a cherry. You have to be gentle at first but then gradually you get rougher, until you find that spot that unlocks everything. Um, that got sexual real fast. Let's just forget that I thought that.
I tucked the heavy lock in my suit pocket and slowly opened the door. Before we went in I looked inside and saw dim lights, leading into a hallway. My ears and eyes searched for any signs off life. My ears picked up the sound of whimpering mixed with sad grunts. The noise sounded like it was someone who was hurt, it didn't sound like my mother but it sounded like a guy.
Brandon must have heard it too because he gave me a confusing look, I gave him a shrug because I had no I idea either.
I creeped into the building with Brandon hot on my tail. He closed the door behind us, which made the whimpering grow louder.
"Help! Anyone Please help me!"
We followed the voice with caution in our steps. There was water dripping somewhere off in the distance, making the inside of the warehouse even more eerie. The grunting was coming from a room at the end of the hallway.
"Preston, I don't know about this."
"I can't ignore a person who needs help, if you were in the position they were you would want help too."
"Okay, fine but let's hurry."
We ended our whispering conversation when I got down on my knees and started picking the lock ib the door that held whimpering inside. After a couple of seconds I picked the lock and opened the door, ever so carefully.
Brandon and I quickly got inside, making sure to close the door behind us in the process.
There was a steel cage in the center of the room that had chains woven between each and every bar. But what made us freeze in our tracks was the boy that was trapped inside.
A/N: Man, do I hate me some cliff hangers. XD
