Howleen's head whipped around to stare at the back glass. The policemen stood from their vehicle and shared a look before slowly approaching the bus.

"What's going on?" She asked. You gave a simple shrug.

Howleen gripped your wrist. You winced from the pressure, not used to such aggressive touches. Her eyes became wide, and she looked around at the other passengers to see their reactions. No one seemed bothered, and Howleen bit her lip before settling in her seat.

All she had to do was play it cool. She could do that!

An officer knocked at the driver window, and the driver rolled it down to hear him speak. They exchanged a few words that Howleen didn't care to listen to, and before she knew it, he had left the window.

She calmed herself. He was gone. You were safe. No one could take you.

You watched as the officer walked around the bus. The bus doors opened, and he stepped up the stairs with 2 others. You bit your lip. Was this your way out?

Howleens hand found yours once more. She held it tightly, afraid that if she were to let you go, you'd be taken away forever.

You stared at the officer intently. Maybe your stare would make him look at you? Maybe he'd recognize you!

The officer turned his head, making direct eye contact with you. You widened your eyes, yet you didn't look away.

The police man walked down the aisle of seats before stopping at your seat. Howleen's breathing became ragged.

"Miss (L/N)?" The officer asked.

Howleen gave you a glare, threatening you to say something in response.

You ignored her, finally feeling confident again in your attempted escape.

"Yes sir?" You replied.

The officer looked down at your hands, which were joined with Howleen's.

"Come with me, you two." The man said.

Howleen stood up shakily and pulled you out from the seat. Her mind was racing. Now what? How could she get out of this? What could make the police run away?

She followed him from the bus and to his car, where she stood straight with a serious face. Despite her calm exterior, she could feel the anxiety tear into her.

"Miss (Y/N) (L/N), you know you've been missing for a few months now, right?" One of the men spoke.

Howleen gritted her teeth.

"I didn't know it had been that long." You breathed out.

A wave of relief came over you. Finally, the situation was setting in. You were free. You were unchained. You were released from the torture you endured.

It was enough to nearly make you cry, but you kept your composure and stared ahead.

"Howleen, put your hands behind your back. We can do this calmly, and everything will be okay."

An officer approached Howleen, but before he could touch her, she swiped her hand across his neck.

It took you a moment to register what had happened. One minute, the man was standing. The next, he was laying on the ground, bleeding out from 4 slashes in his throat.

Howleen grabbed you and began her getaway. You struggled to keep up to her speed, and you gasped for air.

"When we get to where we're going, you'll be lucky if you even see the fucking moon." She spat.

Her stamina lasted much longer than yours, as toy began to slow down once you had made it a few feet from the car.

"Oh, no princess." She smirked. "You're not giving up now."

Howleen scooped you up and threw you over her shoulder. For someone built so small, she had a lot of strength.

Her legs powered through, and when the sound of sirens got close, she made a detour through the woods.

Howleen finally stopped and sat you on the ground. She breathed out and stretched her spine.

"You feeling the workout yet?" She joked.

"Howleen..." You whispered. "They can help us."

"No." Howleen dropped her joking tone and turned to you. "You're not fucking leaving me."

You raised your hands in defense.

In a matter of seconds, a large group of men surrounded you. You stood quickly.

"Come forward, and you won't get hurt."

Howleen shoved you behind her. "Fuck off." She spat.

"Come to me, (Y/N)." One of the men hummed gently.

"Go to them, and they die." Howleen reminded you.

You stood still, shaking in your spit as if it were freezing out.

If you stayed with Howleen, everyone would die. You'd never escape. There'd be no hope for you.

If you left Howleen, everyone would still die. Including you.

There was no logic. By this point, it was a matter of gut feeling. Raw instinct.

You only hoped whatever you chose, you chose right.
