I held my moms hand, rubbing circles in her skin with my thumb. I sat next to my mother who laid in the hospital bed, having difficulties breathing.

My mother, Laura Marie has heart disease, and today is the day she dies, says the doctors.

*Flashback*

"Well, Doctor Hartmon, how long does she have to live?" I ask as my hands shake, thinking of my mother dying.

"I think maybe a week. I'm surprised she made it this long, your mother is a very strong woman, Mary." He said as he placed a hand on my shoulder.

"Okay, thank you. And, she is. She's the strongest woman I know."

I walked back into the room and sat next to my mom who laid on her hospital bed. Next to her on a table were flowers, balloons and cards from people who supposedly cared.

I was the only one who came everyday, I basically live in this hospital.

"Hey, baby." My mom said as she looked at me.

I sniffled. "Hi, mommy."

"Remember when me and you climbed on the roof and looked at the stars?"

I nodded as the tears ran down my cheeks.

"I don't want you to stop doing that, I want you to look at the stars and think of me."

I nodded as my tears were basically flowing down my cheeks.

"I will, mommy. I promise."

I got up and hugged her, holding her close and hearing her weak heart beat.

"I love you so much, mommy. Please don't leave me. I need you, mommy. Please?"

"I wish I could, baby. I'll always be with you, I promise. I love you, baby girl. Don't you ever forget that, okay?"

I nodded and held her tighter.

How am I supposed to live without my mother?

*Present*

"These are my last minutes, Mary." My mom said weakly.

"I know, mommy." I said trying to hold in my tears.

"Don't hold back your tears, baby. I want to comfort you physically."

I ran up to her and laid on the bed next to her, resting my head on her chest hearing a very light heart beat. I continued to cry.

"It's going to be alright. You're going to be alright. I love you to the stars and back."

I kept crying.

"I say the stars because they go on forever, now the moon, it has a limit. There's no limit when it comes to love."

"I-I love you t-too, mommy."

Her heart beat got weaker and weaker.

"Don't forget to look at the stars when I'm gone, baby. Because I'll be looking back at you."

"I love you, mommy. P-please don't g-go!"

"I love you, baby. Look at the stars..."

I heard her very last heart beat, and the machine gave a loud beep.

"Mommy?! Mommy?!" I yelled sitting up.

"Mommy, no! Please, please come back!"

"M-mommy, I need you! Please don't leave me..."

The doctors ran in and pulled me out of the room.

"I'll look at the stars, mommy! I will tonight! I promised you."

That was the last thing I said before exiting the hospital.
