Prologue²

"I say we fight." Charming said as he slammed his fist against the large circular table, "Fighting is a bad idea, giving into one's dark side never accomplishes anything." came Jiminy Cricket's calm voice.

Charming looked down into the magnifying glass at the creature "And how many wars has a clear conscience won?" the prince asked "We need to take the Queen out before she can inflict her curse."

"Can we even trust Rumplestiltskin?" Doc asked from beside Snow White "I've sent my men into the forest, the animals are abuzz with the Queen's plan, this is going to happen unless we do something." he continued reassuming his seat.

Snow looked at her husband with a sigh "There's no point, the future is written." she said causing the prince to shake his head "No, I refuse to believe that, good can't just lose." Flynn let out a snort from across the table as Rapunzel smacked his arm playfully.

"Maybe it can." Snow spoke up again in defeat, Charming knelt down in front of his wife completely ignoring the couple "No, no, not as long as we have each other, if you believe him about the curse, then you must believe him about our child, she will be the savior."

Snow turned to him as a loud thud was heard the doors banging into the wall, the prince stood "What the hell is this?" he asked as blue fairy floated over to the group, behind her four guards pulled a tree into the hall "Our only hope of saving that child." she replied.

"A tree? Our fate rests on a tree?" Grumpy demanded incredulously before shaking his head slightly "Let's get back to the fighting thing." the fairy's gaze never left the prince "The tree is enchanted, if fashioned into a vessel it can ward off any curse."

Snow perked up at the news "Geopetto, can you build such a thing?" Blue asked as everyone turned to the man who nodded briefly reaching down to pat his son's head "Me and my boy, we can do it."

The fairy turned back to the Charming's "This will work, we all must have faith." Snow grabbed her husband's hand beaming as they shared an equally excited expression.

"There is, however, a catch, the enchantment is indeed powerful, but all power has its limits, and this tree can protect only one." the two looked at each other in shock their smiles fading almost immediately.

Rumple sat in bed beside his daughter "A pulse of magic spread through the forest as the princess was awakened." he glanced down at the girl who had wrapped herself tightly around him her head on his chest.

He gently untangled himself pulling the covers around her securely and pressing kiss to her head, he paused at the door watching her with the hint of a smile.
