abraham and those who went with him had come back to the church, hoping rick and everyone were still there.
michonne broke the news to maggie that they found out where beth was, so they crammed themselves into the firetruck and headed that way.
on the way there, lorelei admired maggie. she admired her beautiful smile, as she talked to her husband. it was then she realized why she liked maggie so much.
maggie rhee reminded lorelei about her own mother. maggie's optimistic personality and bravery. her care for everyone around her, as well as her confidence. she reminded lorelei of her own mother. her mother and maggie were one in the same.
"grace?" her father spoke, lowering his head to be at her level. "are you arlight?" he asked, arm slinging around her shoulder, fingers rubbing soothingly at her skin.
"i'm okay, daddy." she shifted her gaze to him right as maggie caught her staring. she smiled at him, and he returned it.
"you look so much like your mother." he sighed, pressing a kiss to her forehead. she let out a sigh, falling silent after that. she turned her gaze to see the buildings passing by.
"we're getting close, folks." abraham piped up from the front.
when the fire truck stopped just outside of the hospital, maggie was the first to jump out. glenn followed, and then everyone else.
rick was the first to come out. he couldn't look at maggie. lorelei could tell this wasn't going to be good. she took a step closer to carl, who was on the left of her with judith. he gave her a quick glance and a nod.
that's when daryl walked out, holding i a lifeless girl in his arms. maggie let out a gut-wrenching scream before she fell to the floor sobbing.
that was the last of her family, all she had.
lorelei stood in disbelief, watching as the original group mourned for their light, their glue.
beth greene was important to the group. she saw that now.
she stood awkwardly before carl spoke up.
"can you take her for a minute?" he asked, referring to his infant sister. lorelei nodded and took judith from him, resting her on her hip.
she glanced around, making sire the area was free of rotters. when she looked back forward, her eyes met with daryl dixon.
her heart almost broke for him. he looked so distraught. she could tell he blamed himself.
nobody could have known.
they locked eyes, and lorelei pursed her lips together. she gave him a small nod, telling him he did his best, and he returned it.
judith had lay her head over on the fourteen year old's shoulder, biting on her thumb.
carl was comforting his dad. beth was a huge loss.
lorelei and her dad shared a look. she knew her dad would try and bring the lord into this. she sighed and placed her hand on the baby's back.
she heard the low, familiar growls and turned her head to the source. she saw three walkers and adjusted judoth on her hip. she dug in her front pocket and pulled out the pocket knife she kept in there. she opened it and made her way towards the closest rotter. she lifted her leg and kicked it down before using the heel of her boot to stomp its head in. she stuck her knife in one, and then the other, finishing them off. she closed it and stuffed it back into her pocket before heading back to the group.
"i can take her." carl spoke, smiling a small smile.
"are you sure? i don't mind, you could use the break." she replied, bouncing a bit as the baby started to fall asleep.
