A.N. I am so sorry I hate this spacing so much but I am far too lazy to fix it.
Kassandra sat on a wooden chair, surrounded by the flickering light of candles, in the dimly lit chamber of the Temple of Apollo. She wore a simple white gown and her long hair was braided neatly down her back. She was in the midst of giving a prophecy to Prince Menelaos, who stood before her, his face etched with concern."The gods have spoken," Kassandra intoned in her clear voice, her eyes closed in concentration. "They warn of dark times ahead for Sparta. War is coming, and with it, bloodshed and loss."Menelaos felt a chill run down his spine. He knew that the oracle's prophecies were always accurate, and he feared for his city-state's safety."What can we do to prepare, Kassandra?" Menelaos asked, his voice barely above a whisper.Kassandra opened her eyes and looked directly at Menelaos. He was struck by her beauty, her eyes seemed to pierce his soul."You must be ready," she said, her voice ringing with authority. "Train your armies, fortify your defenses, and seek alliances with your neighboring city-states. You will need all the help you can get."Menelaos nodded, taking in Kassandra's words. He couldn't help but feel drawn to her, her otherworldly presence and beauty captivating him.As the prophecy came to an end, Kassandra opened her eyes once again and looked directly at Menelaos."Is there anything else, my prince?" she asked, her voice softening slightly.Menelaos hesitated for a moment, then spoke. "No, Kassandra. That will be all for now. Thank you for your wisdom."As he turned to leave, Menelaos couldn't shake the feeling that he had just met someone special, someone who would change his life forever.Days passed, and Menelaos worked tirelessly to prepare Sparta for the impending war. He called upon his most trusted advisors to help him develop a strategy to defend their city-state. They trained their armies rigorously, drilling their soldiers day and night. They constructed fortifications around the city, including walls and towers, and they fortified their ports to prevent enemy ships from entering.Menelaos also knew that he would need allies to stand a chance against their enemies. He reached out to other city-states in the region, seeking alliances and promising support in return. His efforts paid off, and soon Sparta had a network of allies ready to fight by their side.As the days turned into weeks and then months, Menelaos couldn't help but think about Kassandra. He found himself visiting the Temple of Apollo more and more frequently, seeking her counsel and advice. He was drawn to her, captivated by her wisdom and beauty. One day, as he sat in the temple, waiting for Kassandra to appear, he overheard a group of soldiers talking. They spoke of a massive army, led by a ruthless general, marching towards Sparta.Menelaos felt a knot form in his stomach. He knew that the time had come to put their preparations to the test. He stood up, determined to lead his armies into battle, and to protect his city-state and the people he loved. As he walked towards the entrance of the temple, Kassandra appeared before him. Her eyes met his, and he felt a surge of energy course through his body."My prince," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "The time has come. You must lead your armies into battle. But do not fear, for the gods are with you.Kassandra had watched Menelaos prepare for war over the past months and was struck with how hardworking he was, considering his being the youngest prince of Sparta. She knew that she couldn't work closely with him, as they had separate duties to fulfill. However, she had great respect for Menelaos and knew that he would make an excellent king of Sparta if the gods willed it so. She turned to Euryalus, her most trusted and loyal guard, and smiled softly."My brave warrior, it is time. You must be prepared to protect this temple from the upcoming onslaught, for if it falls, the High Priestess Daphne will be in great danger. The temple is a sanctuary, and it is our duty to ensure that it remains safe and secure."Kassandra stood tall and resolute, watching as Menelaos left the chamber to prepare for battle. She knew he would make an excellent leader for Sparta if the gods willed it so. However, her mind was preoccupied with the task at hand. Protecting the temple was paramount, for if it fell, Sparta would surely fall with it.As Kassandra waited at the altar, her piercing green eyes landed on Euryalus. His formidable figure waited in the shadows for anyone who might enter the temple with the intentions of carrying her off.Kassandra's gaze shifted to the entrance of the temple, where she saw Daphne, her sister and fellow priestess, enter with two acolytes carrying offerings for the gods. Daphne walked up to Kassandra and smiled warmly."May the gods bless you and keep you safe, my sister," Daphne said, placing her hand on Kassandra's shoulder.Kassandra smiled back at her sister. "Thank you, Daphne. May the gods also watch over you and keep you safe in these troubled times."As the acolytes began placing the offerings on the altar, Kassandra turned her attention to the war preparations. She knew that King Leonidas, Prince Ariston, and Prince Alexandros were leading the Spartan army into battle against the invading forces, and that they had prepared for this conflict for months. Menelaos had also been busy with his own duties, as he was responsible for training and equipping the cavalry and archers.Kassandra couldn't help but feel a sense of worry for the safety of her family and her beloved Sparta. She had foreseen visions of bloodshed and death, and knew that the upcoming battle would be a brutal and deadly one. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, focusing on her prayers to Apollo for protection and guidance.Suddenly, Kassandra felt a hand on her shoulder and opened her eyes to see Menelaos standing next to her."Kassandra, I came to see you before I leave for battle," he said, his piercing blue eyes filled with concern.Kassandra smiled softly at Menelaos. "May Apollo watch over you and keep you safe, Menelaos. And may the gods guide you to victory."Menelaos nodded, his expression serious. "I will fight with all my might, for Sparta and for you, Kassandra."With that, Menelaos turned and left the temple, leaving Kassandra to continue her prayers and contemplations. She knew that the fate of Sparta was in the hands of the gods and the brave warriors fighting to defend their home, and she could only hope that they would emerge victorious. However, she couldn't help but notice how agitated Euryalus seemed since the prince had entered. She looked over at her formidable guard, he stood strong in his position, but his face read annoyance. "What's the matter, my dear Euryalus? Has Prince Menelaos done something to offend you?" She asked as she checked the arrangements of the offerings, making sure they were all in the correct amounts.Euryalus shifted his weight from one foot to the other, clearly uncomfortable. "It's not that, my lady," he replied, his voice strained. "I just don't trust him. He's always lurking around here, trying to catch a glimpse of you. I don't like it."Kassandra sighed, understanding Euryalus' protectiveness but also feeling sympathy for Menelaos. "He means no harm, Euryalus. He is just...interested. And besides, he has duties of his own to attend to. Let us focus on our own duties and not worry about the prince."Euryalus grunted in response, clearly still uneasy, but he did not argue with Kassandra. They both knew the importance of their roles in protecting the temple and keeping the oracle safe. As they stood in silence, Kassandra couldn't help but wonder what the future held for Sparta and for herself. The war with Persia was looming, and the fate of the city-state rested on the shoulders of its leaders, including Menelaos.Besides that, if Sparta were to fall, or she were to be taken, what would happen to her sister? She'd hate to hear of her dear sister Daphne fallen to some Persian's blade or taken away to rot in some stranger's bed. Prophecies about herself and her loved ones have always been a hard thing for her to want to read, but she sure did wish she bothered to pay them mind now.Kassandra's thoughts were interrupted by a sudden commotion outside the temple walls. She could hear the sound of hooves pounding against the ground, and the unmistakable clash of swords."Euryalus, take position at the entrance," Kassandra ordered, her voice firm and steady despite the rising panic in her chest. "We must protect the temple at all costs."Euryalus nodded, unsheathing his sword as he moved towards the door. Kassandra remained at the altar, her heart pounding in her chest as she waited for any sign of danger.Moments later, the door burst open, and in rushed Menelaos, his face red with exertion and his eyes wild with fear."Kassandra, we must leave at once," he gasped, his chest heaving as he tried to catch his breath. "The Persians are attacking, and they're headed this way."Kassandra's heart sank. This was it. The moment she had been dreading had finally arrived. She turned to Euryalus, nodding at him to follow her lead."Very well," she said, her voice steady and calm. "We will make our stand here. You and your men will defend this temple with your lives, Euryalus."Euryalus nodded, his jaw set with determination. He moved to the entrance, his sword at the ready as he waited for the Persians to arrive.Meanwhile, Kassandra began to gather the temple's most sacred artifacts, wrapping them carefully in cloth before tucking them into a leather bag."Come, Prince Menelaos," she said, her voice brisk and business-like. "Help me carry these. We must keep them safe from harm."Menelaos nodded, his face pale and drawn. Together, the two of them hurried out of the temple, following the winding path that led towards the safety of the Spartan army's encampment. There Kassandra made quick work of hiding the artifacts with the best and most foremost of the Spartan army before moving to hurry back to the temple. But, before she could Menelaos caught her by the arm his piercing blue eyes search hers carefully. "Kassandra, tell me if you have seen it, do I make it out of this war alive?"Kassandra looked into Menelaos' eyes, trying to read his fate. But as much as she wished she could see the future clearly, it was never that simple. She knew she had to choose her words carefully."Prince Menelaos, I cannot predict the future with certainty. All I can say is that you are a brave warrior and a valuable asset to Sparta. Your fate is intertwined with that of our city and our people, and we will fight together to ensure our survival."With that, she gently pulled her arm away from Menelaos' grasp and made her way back to the temple, feeling the weight of his gaze on her back. When she gets back to the temple, she can see Persians and Spartans fighting at the steps and Kassandra tries her best to rush past the clashing swords and flying arrows to get back inside the temple. As Kassandra pushed through the chaos of battle, she could feel her heart pounding in her chest. She knew that she needed to reach the safety of the temple and the protection of Euryalus and the other guards. With all her might, she pushed her way through the throngs of fighting soldiers and finally made it to the steps of the temple. As she looked up, Kassandra could see the glint of steel and the flash of colorful robes as Persian soldiers battled their way towards her. She took a deep breath and steeled herself for what was to come. With a fierce determination, Kassandra pushed her way through the fray and made it to the entrance of the temple. She could hear the sounds of fighting echoing through the halls, but she knew that she was safe for the moment. She looked around and saw Euryalus and the other guards standing at the ready, their weapons at the ready to defend the temple and its occupants."Is everyone alright?" Kassandra asked, looking around at the other priests and priestesses who had taken refuge in the temple."Yes, thanks to the bravery of Euryalus and the other guards," replied High Priestess Daphne, her voice steady despite the chaos raging outside.Kassandra nodded, relief flooding through her. She knew that the battle was far from over, but for the moment they were safe within the walls of the temple. She took a deep breath and prepared herself for whatever was to come.Suddenly, Kassandra gasps as she looks around, "Where is my sister?"Eurydice, who was nearby, quickly responds, "She was taken by the Persians! We were outnumbered and they overpowered us. I'm sorry, Kassandra."Kassandra's heart sank as she realized the gravity of the situation. She knew she had to act fast to save her sister before it was too late. Without a second thought, she quickly gathered her most trusted companions, including Euryalus, and set out to track down the Persian army and rescue her sister. But first, they'd have to wait until nightfall when the warriors would be resting at encampments. Then, they could look for the Persian that took her sister. Kassandra rested on Euryalus as they wanted, drained from worrying all day.Euryalus held Kassandra close, letting her rest her head on his broad shoulder. He knew how much her sister meant to her and how worried she must be. He vowed to himself that they would find Daphne and bring her back to safety. As the night fell, Euryalus helped Kassandra sneak out of the temple and into the darkness. They moved silently, trying not to attract the attention of any Persian patrols. They knew that the Persians had set up many camps around the area, but they had no idea which one Daphne was being held in.After an hour of walking in silence, they came across a Persian encampment. They could hear the sounds of men laughing and drinking inside. Euryalus motioned for Kassandra to wait behind a tree while he went to scout the area.Euryalus moved quietly, his well-trained senses guiding him through the shadows. He spotted Daphne in a tent at the back of the camp, guarded by two Persian soldiers. He quickly returned to Kassandra and whispered, "I found her. She's being held in a tent at the back of the camp, but there are two guards watching over her."Kassandra nodded, her face set in determination. "We have to get her out of there," she whispered. "I won't leave her to suffer at the hands of these barbarians."Euryalus nodded in agreement, and together they made their way back to the Persian camp, ready to rescue Daphne. One of the Persians spoke loudly as he drank talking about crude things. But, when she heard that it was about a woman taken while peeking out of the temple, Kassandra honed in on the conversation.Kassandra's heart pounded in her chest as she strained to listen to the Persian's conversation. Her mind raced with fear and hope as she wondered if they were talking about her sister. She looked over at Euryalus, and he nodded at her, silently urging her to keep listening. The Persian continued to speak, his words crude and vulgar. Kassandra felt a wave of disgust wash over her, but she forced herself to focus on the topic at hand. The man mentioned a beautiful woman who had been taken from a temple earlier that day. He described her in detail, and Kassandra's heart sank as she realized he was talking about Daphne. She stood up suddenly, her eyes blazing with anger. "Where is she?" she demanded, her voice cold and deadly. The Persian looked up, startled, and then he laughed. "Why should I tell you, little girl? What can you do to me?"Kassandra's hands balled into fists, and Euryalus stepped forward, his own fists at the ready. "You will tell us, or you will face the consequences," he growled. The Persian's bravado faltered, and he looked around nervously. Kassandra could see fear in his eyes, and she knew they had him cornered. Finally, he spoke, his voice low and hesitant."She is in the tent of the general," he said, his eyes darting back and forth between Kassandra and Euryalus. "But you will never make it out alive if you go there.""So you say." Kassandra hums. "Just as I'm sure your gods told you you'll win this war. Euryalus?"Kassandra turns on her heel, heading towards the tent as Euryalus cuts the head of the man off in one swift motion."I hope you find peace in the afterlife," Euryalus says before following Kassandra towards the tent where her sister is being held.As they approach the tent, Kassandra can hear her sister's muffled cries from inside. With a determined look on her face, she signals to Euryalus to stay outside and keep watch.Kassandra quietly slips inside the tent, her hand reaching for her hidden blade. She finds her sister tied up and gagged in a corner, tears streaming down her face."Daphne, it's me, Kassandra," she whispers, quickly cutting the ropes that bind her sister. "We have to go, now."Daphne nods, still sobbing as Kassandra leads her out of the tent, keeping a close eye out for any Persians or Spartan warriors. Euryalus joins them, and they make their way out of the Persian encampment unnoticed. As they make their way back to Sparta, Kassandra can't help but feel a sense of relief wash over her. She had saved her sister from certain doom, and the artifacts were safely hidden away. But there was still a war to fight, and Kassandra knew that they would have to be prepared for whatever came next. When Kassandra returned to the temple with Daphne, she ordered all those who were not trained in combat or were not essential to the temple's functions to hide in the temple's basement. There they and her sister would be safer than up here. Besides that, she knew the Persians would come to the temple as soon as they noticed Daphne had been saved.Kassandra quickly directed her sister to the basement, making sure she was safe and comfortable. She then gathered the remaining Spartan warriors and priests who were skilled in combat and formed a plan to defend the temple. They knew that they were outnumbered, but Kassandra was determined to protect the temple and the artifacts within it. She divided the warriors into teams and stationed them at strategic points around the temple. As expected, the Persian army soon arrived, their angry shouts echoing throughout the temple's halls. Kassandra stood at the forefront, her sword at the ready, and prepared to defend her home. The battle was fierce, with Persian soldiers pouring in from every direction, but Kassandra and her warriors fought valiantly. Arrows flew through the air, swords clashed, and blood was spilled on the temple's sacred ground.Despite the overwhelming odds, the Spartans held their ground and pushed back against the invading army. Kassandra fought with all her might, her skills as a warrior and her strategic mind helping her to lead her people to victory. Finally, the Persian army began to retreat, their morale broken by the fierce resistance they encountered. Kassandra and her warriors stood victorious, their home and their artifacts safe from harm.As the temple fell quiet once again, Kassandra breathed a sigh of relief. She knew that they had won this battle, but she also knew that there would be many more to come in the days ahead. Nevertheless, she was ready to face whatever lay ahead, knowing that she had the strength and determination to protect all that she held dear. She sat in the room so familiar to her, amongst flickering candles on a wooden chair. The chamber in which she saw the future and gave prophecies to those her saw her. Additionally, the one place in the Temple of Apollos where she felt completely calm.Kassandra closed her eyes and took a deep breath, trying to clear her mind of the chaos and uncertainty that had plagued her throughout the day. She focused on the flickering candle flames in front of her, letting their gentle light and warmth soothe her. As she sat there, she began to see images flicker in her mind's eye.She saw the Spartan army marching into battle, their shields raised high, their spears glinting in the sun. She saw the Persian soldiers, fierce and determined, their swords flashing in the light. She saw Prince Menelaos leading the charge, his face set in a fierce scowl. But then, her vision shifted. She saw a figure in the shadows, sneaking up on the Spartan army from behind. She couldn't make out the face, but she knew it was an enemy spy, sent to sabotage their efforts.Kassandra opened her eyes, her heart racing. She knew she had to tell the Spartan leaders about the spy, but she also knew that doing so would put her in danger. The Persians would not take kindly to someone revealing their secrets. She took a deep breath and steadied herself. It was a risk she had to take, for the sake of her people and her city. She stood up immediately, but nearly toppled over from all the day's stresses."My lady!" Euryalus cries out as he catches Kassandra. "You must not overexert yourself."Kassandra looks up at Euryalus, since when has his eyes been such a pretty blue?Euryalus steadies her and helps her sit back down on the wooden chair. "Thank you, Euryalus," Kassandra says, still feeling a bit dizzy. "I just need a moment to catch my breath."Euryalus nods, his expression serious. "My lady, you have been through a lot today. Perhaps it is best if you rest for a while."Kassandra considers his words, knowing that Euryalus is right. She has been pushing herself too hard lately, both physically and mentally. She nods, conceding, "You're right. I need to rest."Euryalus helps her to her feet and leads her to her chambers, making sure she is comfortable before leaving her to rest. Kassandra closes her eyes, letting the familiar sounds of the temple and the flickering candles lull her into a deep sleep. While she sleep Euryalus lightly kisses her forehead."Oh dear Oracle, if only you weren't so caught up in your responsibilities that you won't even spare me a glance." He sighs. "I'm by your side everyday. I admire your beauty everyday. And yet, I am held back by duty to stay silent."As Kassandra slept, she was unaware of Euryalus's affections towards her. Her mind was filled with dreams of the future and the consequences of the war. She dreamed of blood and death, of pain and suffering. It was only when she awoke that she remembered where she was and what had happened. As she opened her eyes, she noticed Euryalus sitting by her side. She smiled at him, grateful for his unwavering loyalty and protection. But, little did she know of his true feelings towards her.Kassandra spent the next few days observing the battlefield from atop the temple's walls. She saw the fierce battles between the Spartans and the Persians, each side fighting with all their might for victory. She saw the skilled archers on the Persian side, raining down a hail of arrows upon the Spartan phalanxes, while the Spartans countered with their own archers and slingers. The Spartans fought with a fierce determination, knowing that their homes and families were at stake. As the days passed, Kassandra saw the tides of the war turning. The Spartans were pushing back the Persian forces, slowly but surely. The Persian supply lines were being cut off, and their morale was beginning to falter.Kassandra saw the Spartan army being led by their king, Leonidas, who was fighting alongside his men on the front lines. His courage and leadership inspired the Spartans to fight harder, and they were able to make significant gains against the Persians. As the battle raged on, Kassandra received word that there was a traitor among the Spartan ranks. She immediately sent Euryalus to investigate and find out who it was.Meanwhile, Kassandra continued to observe the battle and offer her guidance to the Spartans. She saw the Persians bringing out their war elephants, hoping to crush the Spartan lines with their massive beasts. However, the Spartans were able to hold their ground and drive back the elephants with their spears and swords.Eventually, the day came when the Spartan forces were able to break through the Persian lines and reach the enemy camp. The Persians fought fiercely to protect their treasures and supplies, but the Spartans were relentless. In the end, the Spartans emerged victorious, having dealt a significant blow to the Persian invasion force. Kassandra watched as the Spartans celebrated their victory, but she knew that the war was far from over. The Persians would not give up so easily, and there would be more battles to come. With the war finally over, Kassandra could go back to enjoying her everyday life. But, first she settled on some much needed rest. She went on a walk to a field where a great oak tree grew, the tree of Zeus. Under this tree she sat with Euryalus at her side and she simply relaxed. As Kassandra rested under the oak tree, she felt a sense of peace wash over her. She had been through so much during the war, and now that it was finally over, she could take a moment to breathe and appreciate the beauty of the world around her.The sky was a vibrant shade of blue, with a few wispy clouds drifting lazily overhead. The grass beneath her feet was soft and green, and the leaves on the oak tree rustled gently in the breeze. Birds chirped in the distance, their songs filling the air with a sense of joy and contentment. As Kassandra looked around, she couldn't help but feel grateful for everything she had. She had her sister back, her city was safe, and she had a loyal friend and companion in Euryalus. It was a beautiful day, and Kassandra was content to just sit and enjoy it.After a while, Kassandra turned to Euryalus and smiled. "Thank you for always being by my side," she said. "I don't know what I would have done without you during the war."Euryalus returned her smile. "It was my pleasure, my lady," he replied. "I will always be here to protect you and serve you in any way I can."Kassandra leaned her head against his shoulder and closed her eyes, feeling a sense of peace and contentment wash over her. For now, at least, she was happy to just rest and enjoy the beauty of the world around her.Euryalus too felt relaxed, but not quite content. He wanted the Oracle to know if his feelings but whenever she was awake to hear his affections she was too busy. All he could ever do is whisper in her unconscious ear all the things he felt for her.As Kassandra closed her eyes and let herself drift off, Euryalus mustered up the courage to whisper softly in her ear. "My dear Oracle, I hope you can hear me. I have been by your side through this war and I cannot bear to hide my feelings any longer. I am hopelessly in love with you."He paused for a moment, hoping that Kassandra would somehow hear his words even in her sleep. "I know our duties keep us apart, but my heart longs for you. If only you could hear me now and know the depth of my affection for you."With a deep sigh, Euryalus leaned back against the tree trunk and closed his eyes, content to be near Kassandra even if she couldn't hear his words. The war had made Euryalus feel anxious for the safety of Kassandra and the interest of Prince Menelaos... While he can not speak ill of a prince of his kingdom, he did not like Menelaos' interest in Kassandra one bit.As Euryalus sat under the oak tree with Kassandra, he couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy towards Menelaos. He had noticed the prince's interest in Kassandra for a while now, and it had been a constant source of worry for him during the war. He knew that Menelaos was a powerful and influential man, and he feared what would happen if he pursued Kassandra.Euryalus had always been loyal to the Spartan army and the royal family, but his loyalty to Kassandra ran much deeper. He had grown to love her during their time together, and he would do anything to protect her from harm.As he sat there, watching Kassandra relax under the shade of the oak tree, Euryalus made a decision. He would confess his love for her and make it clear that he would not stand by and let Menelaos take her away from him. They sat in silence for a moment, each lost in their own thoughts. Euryalus felt a weight lift off his shoulders, now that his feelings had been expressed, even if they weren't reciprocated. He knew that he would always stand by Kassandra, no matter what the future held. However, Kassandra did want to return his feelings. She simply feared what would happen if she did. Many great priestesses and seers have fallen in love and have faced great harm by the gods for breaking their vows or forgetting themselves in their love. Kassandra wished not to be part of their rank even despite how protected and loved she felt by Euryalus's side.As Kassandra opened her eyes and saw the peaceful scenery around her, she felt a pang of guilt for not reciprocating Euryalus's feelings. She knew he was devoted to her and had been by her side through the toughest of times during the war. But she couldn't shake off the fear of the gods' wrath. And there they sat under the oak tree, longing for one another's embrace, yet separated by duty and fears. As they sat there in silence, a small bird landed on Kassandra's shoulder, chirping softly. She smiled at the bird, feeling a sense of peace wash over her.Suddenly, she felt a jolt in her body and a vision came to her. She saw herself standing on the steps of the temple, surrounded by a crowd of people, and she heard a voice calling out her name."Euryalus," she whispered, turning to him with a look of concern. "I have seen a vision. Something important is about to happen."Euryalus looked at her intently, his eyes filled with worry. "What did you see, my lady?"Kassandra took a deep breath and recounted the vision to him. As she spoke, she felt a sense of foreboding wash over her. She knew that the vision was not something to be taken lightly."We must return to the temple at once," she said, rising to her feet. "We cannot ignore this warning."Euryalus nodded, his expression serious. "I will gather our men and make sure that the temple is secure. You must stay here and rest, my lady. You have been through enough already."But Kassandra was already walking away, her mind racing with the implications of the vision. She knew that she could not rest until she had taken action to ensure the safety of the temple and its inhabitants.Kassandra rushed to the temple, her flowing robes flying about her as she made her way through the streets of Sparta. Upon reaching the Temple of Apollo Kassandra looked for any signs of danger close at hand.As Kassandra entered the temple, she saw that everything appeared to be in order. The temple attendants were going about their daily duties, and there was no sign of any disturbance. Kassandra let out a sigh of relief, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something was not right. She decided to make her way to the inner sanctum to consult with the god.As she entered the inner sanctum, Kassandra felt a sense of awe and reverence wash over her. The room was bathed in a soft golden light that seemed to emanate from the very walls themselves. In the center of the room stood the great statue of Apollo, his form carved in the finest marble and his face wreathed in a serene smile.Kassandra knelt before the statue and closed her eyes, clearing her mind of all distractions. She focused her thoughts on the question she wished to ask the god, and waited for his response. After several minutes of deep meditation, Kassandra felt a sudden surge of energy coursing through her body. It was as if the god had heard her prayer and was now speaking to her directly."Kassandra," a deep, resonant voice boomed in her mind. "You have come seeking answers, and I shall provide them. The danger you sense is real, but it is not in this temple. It is beyond these walls, in the city itself. There is a plot to overthrow the prince and seize power, and you must act quickly to prevent it."Kassandra felt a chill run down her spine at the god's words. She knew that she had to act fast, but she also knew that she couldn't do it alone. She rose to her feet and rushed out of the temple, her mind racing with thoughts of how to stop this plot before it was too late. She bumps into Euryalus as soon as she steps out and immediately looks up at him."Just the person I was looking for, Euryalus there is a plot in play to overthrow the prince." Kassandra says seriously, her voice low lest anyone else overhear.Euryalus' expression darkens as he listens to Kassandra's words. "We must act quickly," he says, "but we cannot be seen as going against the prince. It will only make matters worse."He looks around, making sure no one is listening in on their conversation, before continuing. "I will gather some of our most trusted men and we will investigate this plot. We will report back to you with any findings."Kassandra nods, relieved that Euryalus is taking the matter seriously. "Be careful," she warns, "the plotters are cunning and will not hesitate to use force to achieve their goals."Euryalus nods, a determined look on his face. "We will not let them succeed," he vows before turning to leave.Kassandra watches him go, hoping that they will be able to stop the plot before it's too late.In the meantime, Kassandra must return to her duties as prophetess and as such returns to her chamber. She sits upon her wooden tripod and she sighs awaiting visitors seeking her prophecies. As Kassandra sits on her wooden tripod, she closes her eyes and focuses on clearing her mind, allowing herself to be open to the visions that may come to her. She waits patiently for visitors seeking her prophecies, ready to impart whatever knowledge the gods see fit to give her.Soon, a group of Spartan soldiers enter the chamber, seeking Kassandra's guidance. They ask her what the future holds for Sparta now that the war is over, and Kassandra begins to speak, her voice low and steady as she begins to weave the threads of prophecy."The future of Sparta is bright," she says, "for the gods have blessed us with victory in this war. But be warned, there are still dangers on the horizon. You must be vigilant and stay ever-watchful, for there are those who would seek to undermine the peace we have won. Be strong, be brave, and know that the gods are with you."The soldiers nod, taking in Kassandra's words, and thank her for her guidance before leaving the chamber. Kassandra sits back, feeling drained but satisfied that she has done her duty to her people.Kassandra sighed, when had her duties started to make her feel so lonely and isolated?Euryalus had become her closest companion in the past few years, and his absence had left a hole in her heart. She longed for his presence, but she knew that their duty to Sparta must come first. As she waited for her next visitor, she thought about the future of Sparta. The war was over, but the kingdom was still facing many challenges. There were whispers of discontent among the people, and there were rumors of conspiracies to overthrow the prince. Kassandra knew that her prophecies could help Sparta navigate these troubled waters, but she also knew that her powers had limits. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, trying to clear her mind and focus on the task at hand. She knew that she must remain vigilant and use her powers wisely. She could not let her own desires and fears cloud her judgment.Suddenly, she felt a presence in the room, and she opened her eyes to see a young woman standing before her, looking nervous and uncertain. Kassandra smiled gently and motioned for her to approach."What troubles you, my child?" Kassandra asked, her voice soothing and reassuring. The young woman seemed shocked by Kassandra's voice and appearance and hesitated before speaking.Kassandra waited patiently for the girl to speak, sensing her apprehension."Forgive me, Lady Oracle," the girl finally spoke, "but I have come to seek your guidance. My husband has gone missing in battle, and I fear for his safety."Kassandra's heart went out to the girl, knowing all too well the pain of losing a loved one to war. She reached out and took the girl's hand in hers, looking deep into her eyes."Fear not, my child," Kassandra spoke softly, "for the gods watch over all who fight for their cause. I see a vision of your husband, wounded but alive, being cared for by the enemy. He will be returned to you soon, unharmed."The girl's eyes widened in disbelief, but Kassandra could sense the relief and hope emanating from her."Thank you, Lady Oracle," the girl whispered before bowing and leaving the chamber. She looks around the candles in the chamber, where is Euryalus? Knowing him he should've been back from gathering men to investigate the plot against the prince. He would've checked back with Kassandra before leaving off to investigate. But, yet another visitor entered and as always, she is not given much time to dwell on her own thoughts. The visitor was a man this time, and he seemed to be in great distress. He knelt before Kassandra and begged for her guidance."Please, Oracle, I am lost and I do not know what to do," the man pleaded.Kassandra looked at him with compassion and reached out to place a hand on his shoulder."Speak, my child, and I will do my best to help you," Kassandra said softly. The man took a deep breath and told her his troubles. He had lost his way in life and was unsure of what path to take. Kassandra listened intently, and when he had finished, she closed her eyes and began to speak."The road you must take is not an easy one, but it is the right one. You must have courage and faith in yourself, and the gods will guide you. Your destiny is not set in stone, but it is up to you to make the choices that will lead you to your true path."The man looked at her with tears in his eyes and thanked her before leaving. Kassandra sighed as she watched him go, feeling both grateful for the opportunity to help and weary from the weight of responsibility. One of the candles in the chamber flickered out since the last prophecy, she'll have to work on new candles for the chamber, many of them have burnt low by now. If only she were like any other woman and could walk the earth with Euryalus without worry about her heavy responsibilities. As Kassandra contemplates her situation, she can't help but feel a pang of jealousy towards other women who are free to love and be loved without the burden of being a prophetess. But she quickly shakes off those thoughts and reminds herself of the importance of her duty and the honor it brings her.She stands up from her tripod and walks towards the door, ready to face whatever comes next. As she steps out of the chamber, she sees Euryalus waiting for her outside, his sword at his side and a determined look on his face."Kassandra," he says, "I have gathered a group of loyal men to investigate the plot against the prince. We will not let harm come to him or to you."Kassandra feels a surge of gratitude towards Euryalus, her heart pounding with the realization that she may lose him if they fail in their mission. But she nods firmly and takes his arm, ready to face whatever dangers lie ahead. She can't let herself be taken by emotions if Euryalus were to die... she'd just have to move on. She can't dwell on it, else she'll leave off reading prophecies to people to make way for grieving.Kassandra takes a deep breath and focuses on her next visitor, trying to push aside her thoughts of Euryalus and the possibility of losing him. She clears her mind and opens herself to the messages of the gods, waiting for the next vision to come to her.
