From then on out everyone started to develop somewhat of a routine. In the morning and evening, Sawyer would help Petra prepare the food, getting closer to her through small conversations and generally feeling less awkward with the scout around. She also spent the afternoons with the other squad members, mostly helping them with tasks or just talking to them. It didn't just help lessen the tension between the soldiers and the girl but also taught her a bit about herself. For example, other horses really didn't like her and she was lucky to have found her one when she did.
Every evening after sunset she would leave her room and find herself outside, sitting opposite Levi with both of them just silently letting the night pass by. It was almost the exact same every night. She went outside stood in front of the man crossing her arms and asked the same question. "Train me." just for Levi to give the same answer. "No." She would roll her eyes, hold out her hands and let him tie her up to the tree.
Whenever morning would come around the both of them would let the sunrise be their alarm that would indicate the start of a new day, where Levi either disappeared into his room or grabbed his soldiers for a training session Sawyer was never allowed to join. It was almost scary how easily everyone had adjusted to the situation and was now just going on with their lives, not bothering to be mad about circumstances they couldn't change.
After having spent a day with each of the members of squad-Levi once the girl felt like she had at least somewhat of an understanding for them, solidifying her decision to stay at least until the conflict was resolved even though she still wasn't sure whether or not the other members of the household held that same understanding for her.
It was evening once again, marking the end of the week and with that also the end of the ninth day that they had all spent in the cottage. It was shortly passed dinner and Levi had already left, presumably headed outside, as that was where he would usually be found by the girl during the night. Sawyer was in her room, staring at the drawing in her hands once again, trying her best to grasp the memories which were hiding just out of reach, denying her to realise the connection she felt towards those symbols.
Contrary to the usual evening it seemed like the scouts had not gone to bed yet and were still roaming around the small house, confusing the girl slightly. Usually, the soldiers were quite strict with going to bed on time, simply because none of them would want to deal with Levi when tired. However, her questions wouldn't stay unanswered for long, when suddenly the door to her room swung open revealing one of said soldiers with a wide grin on his face and a bottle in his hand. Out of pure reflex, the girl quickly hid away the sheet of paper, which luckily went unnoticed by the unexpected visitor.
"Hey, Sawyer. We found a few bottles of old wine in the cabinets, and since Levi gave us a day off tomorrow we thought we'd enjoy the evening. You wanna join?" the curly-haired man asked, still waving the unfamiliar bottle around, that the girl assumed was said 'wine'. Regardless of her cluelessness towards the strange drink she agreed and followed the man downstairs where everyone else, except for Levi obviously, was already gathered. The new arrivals were greeted with a bit more enthusiasm than Sawyer would've expected, which just became even more suspicious once she took a closer look at the people on the couch.
Petra's cheeks had a slight tint of red on them and she seemed to giggle at seemingly nothing, while Eld would periodically zone in and out of a slightly nonsensical conversation with Gunther. The small couch table held glasses for everyone that held a deep red liquid, and right next to it sat an empty bottle, that looked identical to the one Oluo held in his hand.
Before she could think any deeper about the sight in front of her Sawyer was pulled onto the couch, by Petra, who handed her a fresh glass, that was immediately filled up by the other soldier who had accompanied her downstairs. She was still a bit sceptical about all this and sent a questioning look at the female, whose arm was currently resting over her shoulder.
