I finally got dressed and chose the dress that covered the most of my body when I heard a soft knock on the door. I turned and saw Maria enter slowly with Jamie in her arms. I saw his face light up when he saw me which made my heart melt.

I held my arms out for him since I couldn't stand up. Even if I did I would fall to my knees. Maria smiled and carried him over to me. "Master has informed me that you would like to have a calm rest day?" She questioned and I slowly nodded.

"Did you make up?" She chuckled at her words but I didn't look at her annoyed. But it wasn't like I could complain to her because it would just come back to Antonio and he would become more angry with me. "I apologize mistress that's not my place."

I shook my head and smiled politely "No no it's quite all right and please when no one else is around you may call me Veronica. I truly don't mind." And she smiled before she asked "Would you like me to call for your breakfast to be brought up?"

"Yes, please." She nodded before walking toward the phone on the side table of the bed and calling down to the kitchen. After a few minutes a young maid rushed in set the small tray down, quickly nodded, and ran out of the room all without saying a word.

As I started to eat some of the fruit on the plate Maria started to speak "I wanted to thank you for recommending me to be moved up from just a maid to being your personal assistant. I know I won't do much but help with master James but I do appreciate the perks of it."

I was confused because I didn't know what she was talking about but it seems I had been so focused on Jamie that I didn't realize she was in normal clothing. "But I do know it will be a lot of hours together and I hope you don't mind me saying I would rather spend that time with you than with my old job."

"Mr. Ricci is truly an amazing husband if he wants to do this for you even knowing I don't have much background in the field. But I promise I'm a fast learner and he even said I would be focused more on taking care of Jamie while you 2 are ya know busy."

She paused just for a split second before blabbing out "You're a rather nice person compared to other women I have worked for." I chuckled softly not looking up from Jamie as she said it. "Well I appreciate that." I looked up and she smiled back at me sincerely.

"What do we have planned today?" I asked hoping it could possibly be just a normal boring day so I could spend it all with my son. "You have party planing with Ms. Bianca at noon. But that is about it." She spoke and my smile immediately fell. And she noticed.

"I don't mean to pry but is it true she was why before you left she was a big part of the rockiness of your relationship?" I gasped looking at her shocked she would ask anything about that. And she immediately realized her mistake. "I'm sorry I shouldn't have-."

"No Maria, though she was a big reason why I was treated poorly this is really why I left." I handed Jamie to her softly before pulling off my dress and showing her my back. And all I heard was a sharp gasp before I covered myself back up.

I buttoned the dress back up before taking Jamie from her arms and walking to the bed where I sat down and rocked him. "Mistress-." "Veronica, please if we're going to be together as my son grows when we are alone call me Veronica."

She was still shocked but slowly nodded in understanding. "I'm sorry I ever said anything crude or condescending." I shook my head no "No Maria if my husband is anything it's a damn good liar. Now if we are going to be close you have to stop looking at me with those eyes."

She nodded quickly before looking away and wiping a spare tear as she did so. "Well how about I get Master James ready for the day while you finish breakfast?" I nodded before handing Jamie to her and I went to eat the rest of my meal.
