The Mirror

Part 9

One month later………………

After the death of Jason, the case was closed. Detective John Little wrote up his report; he made sure he did not leave anything out. Carnes, Barkley, and Mike Thomas had to write their own statements about what happened for it to be put into the report. John Little eventually had to give his full report to his Commanding Officer when the time came.

Carnes, Barkley, and Little went to the Sentara Hospital to check on Mike to see how he was doing since he was shot in the leg by the detective. Fortunately, the bullet did not pierce his skin; it was just a flesh wound. The two doctors and the detective walked into the hospital and asked the nurse to see Mike and she told them the room number; she also made another comment- “Mr. Thomas sure is popular; he just had a visitor about ten minutes long ago; his brother Austin Thomas.” They all looked at each other and ran to the room where Mike was. The Detective was the first one to reach the room and he found an empty bed with a note on it; he read it- “Back to where it all began.”
Carnes appeared in front of the door and said, “Where the hell is he?”
Barkely commented, “He sure did heal up fast.”
The Detective yelled at the two doctors, “Let’s go! The son of bitch is alive!”
The Detective and the doctors drove back to the station as fast as they could. John parked the car and told the doctors to stay in the car and not come in until he said so. The two doctors looked at each other and they followed far behind John into the station.
John walked inside the station; the lights were already on. He saw a streak of blood on the floor that led to the room that was Mike’s interrogation room; the door was cracked open and John burst into the room to find the room painted in Mike’s blood. The table and the chair were covered in blood. Mike’s head was on the table, his body was sitting in the chair, both of his arms were lying on the table and both of his legs were on the floor under the table. John read the note that was on Mike’s face- “Come catch me if you can, Detective. From the Jason.” John was speechless; he looked into the mirror and saw the reflection of Jason smiling next to him and he let off a couple of rounds, which caused the doctors to come running. Carnes and Barkely saw the massacre in the room and Barkley immediately threw up. Carnes attended to John; she was standing in front while he was standing in front of the mirror just staring. She shook him to get him to respond but all he could do was stare into the mirror.
