She wakes up to find a discharged phone lying on the study table. Her head feels so heavy when she tries to stand up to put it on charging. Meera knocks on her door,
Meera : hey bubbles, can I come?
Bhargavi : yeah.
She comes inside to find a teary-eyed Bhargavi, who is trying not to remember what happened.
Akash is sitting on the small couch in Bhargavi's room. Harry is sitting in the window while Bhargavi tries to think about her CV. Soon Meera and Ida arrive with Ida's freshly baked cookies which always excite Bhargavi. Ida is another of their childhood friends, and she is a long-lost sister to Meera, they are always together, no matter what happens. She is good with history like Bhargavi is good with physics, well not anymore she would say. They were on the quiz team together, but now that Bhargavi is most probably not getting a place on the team, they are supposedly not.
Ida : you know Mr. Marshall can be really unfair at times, he knows Bhargavi is the best we can get.
Akash : I agree, I hate that guy.
Bhargavi : okay, enough hate words for today.
But they are unstoppable, Harry is the only one who is not saying anything, she goes to him. He is in deep thought, he doesn't even realize that she is standing in front of him. She snaps her fingers in front of him, and he comes back to his senses and scoots over to let her sit,
Bhargavi : Earth to Harry!
He laughs.
Harry : how are you doing?
Bhargavi : about what, people abusing my favorite teacher at school or....
He interrupts before she can finish,
Harry : NO. About the quiz!
Bhargavi : seriously I don't know if I am sad or okay with it. It's not dreading anymore, it's getting better.
Harry : good, we can always apply for new scholarships you know that right?
Bhargavi : yeah.
He gets up to start controlling the risingvoices inside her room. As for her, she saw Ethan in his window and he wasshirtless, 'when does this guy workout?' she thinks. He looks at her, and sherealizes a sudden change in his expression. He waved at her enthusiastically,she waved back. He signs something to her, but she doesn't really understand.She shrugs nervously, and he vanishes behind the window. 'what is with him and signlanguage?' she thinks. He is back at the window in a few minutes with a shirton and he is trying to get on his roof. She smiles and hurries towards thewindow. She is on the roof in no time while Ethan is still struggling. He looksat her giving her a nervous smile, it makes her laugh. Once he is up on theroof, he makes a winning gesture. Bhargavi is pretending to clap which shecan't. They're both grinning at each other. He signs, 'coffee?' it was the easiest sign he had ever made, and she quickly gives him a thumbs up. He signssomething else which she guesses means he will see her downstairs.
