Ethan : I didn't see you after the test results. I thought you had already gone for your fancy-shancy quiz at Washington.
He says with a grin. She is surprised he remembers.
Bhargavi : you remember that?
Ethan : of course I do, you wouldn't stop talking about that thing and eating the little brain that I had left during our study sessions.
They both chuckle.
Bhargavi : oh that.....
Her voice trails.
Bhargavi : I wasn't selected.
Ethan : oh, I'm so sorry.
Bhargavi : oh don't be, I guess it wasn't really mine.
She could see the disappointment in his eyes. He was sad. For her.
Ethan dropped her back at her place even though it was just next door. She had to use the furry slippers, as she was in no mood to go back barefoot. Ethan was still laughing on the way she was walking, they were giving her tickles. 'Never ever go out without appropriate footwear' she told herself. He left soon after talking to Michael who was about to go home. You know there are moments when you want the world to stop, this was that moment for her. She didn't want the evening to end, though she had joked around about the coffee Oreo made, she was quite a fan.
The next day, she didn't think once before getting out of the house, the sleep in her eyes didn't let her. She was awake all night working on ideas that could make her CV look good. Hence, the sleepy face. She waited for a while before Ethan came out of his house, he was about to go to his car when he spots Bhargavi, yawning into her sleeve. She was wearing a sweatshirt that was too big for her, she looked cute though. She hadn't realized he was walking towards her until,
Ethan : you could use some of my coffee, you know that?
Bhargavi : Good morning!
Ethan : waiting for a friend are you? Just like that day?
Bhargavi felt her cheeks turning red, he had known she was avoiding him.
Bhargavi : I'm waiting for Akash.
Ethan : okay then I will give you company until he is here.
He gives her a smirk but she is too tired to notice anything. She just says,
Bhargavi : Okay!!
Akash is there soon, without realizing she walks to his car and opens the door for herself,
Bhargavi : see you at school, Brooke!
She is way to far to hear his reply. In the car, Harry greets her with a hug, while Akash isn't really talking to her. She knows why, and she also knows how to cheer him up.
At school, a few people look back at her sleepy face, she doesn't really care and so does Harry. He walks her to her class before going off to his own. He obviously believes that she is going to trip with that sleep in her eyes. He also gives her an escort to the cafeteria for lunch, she is sitting there with her friends trying to study when she dozes off. Harry doesn't care to wake her up, he just clears the books in front of her.
