I chased Nixon down the hall in demand for an answer. "What happened?" I asked as I breathed heavily trying to keep up with his pace.
"I told you, nothing." He snapped.
I suddenly stopped chasing after him in realisation that he wasn't at all happy. I was invading his personal life and had no reason to do so. I wanted to find out for my benefit. Not for his. I watched Nixon continue to walk off down the halls and sighed.
"Don't let it get to you. He's always moody." Someone said.
I turned towards the voice and saw a girl, roughly about my age stood up against the lockers. Her hair was long, curly and brunette and her eyes were big and dazzling. They were hazel and shined in the sunlight beaming in from the windows. She wore denim shorts with blue Vans and a Slipknot tank top.
"Oh right." I said as I turned back to find my locker.
"Are you new." She asked as she followed me.
"Yes." I said.
"Well it's nice to meet you. I'm Jessica." She said politely.
"It's nice to meet you Jessica. I'm Alison." I said kindly in return.
She smiled and her whole face lit up.
I smiled back and stopped as we reached my locker.
"Wow! You have the big one!" She exclaimed.
"Yes." I laughed. "I didn't know it was a big deal until Nixon said." I told her.
"Yeah. Everyone wants it. You'll get some real ugly stares now you have it." She informed me.
"Why ugly?" I asked concerned.
"Because they'll all be jealous." She said.
"I don't know if I'll cope with that. Do you want to swap?" I asked anxiously.
"As much as I would love to, I shouldn't. My locker is next to my boyfriend's and it wouldn't be fair if I moved." She told me.
"Oh, OK." I said.
The first bell went for first lesson and I grabbed my timetable along with the appropriate books for the upcoming lessons.
"Do you need a hand?" Jessica asked before running off.
"It's OK. I'll find my way around." I said.
"Well text me if you need anything." She said handing me a piece of paper with her number on it.
I scanned the numbers and typed them quickly into my phone. "Thank you." I said.
"No problem." She smiled and ran over to her locker and from there, to her first lesson.
I stared at the timetable and map and slowly worked my way to my first lesson. Maths.
I found the classroom and received a few stares as I entered the room because of my lack of timing.
"Ah, Miss Brown. Am I correct?" Said the teacher.
He was short, chubby and bald. The only hair he had was black, bushy facial hair that stopped just before it trailed of his chin.
"Yes sir." I said walking further into the classroom.
"Go and sit over there." He said pointing to an empty seat at the back of the room.
As I reached the seat, I noticed the table of two, wasn't completely empty. I looked down at the proud owner of the other seat before settling down.
