2BBY, 9 years after they met

A few weeks ago, Cal noticed that Alexandra wasn't physically there. Instead, at some point in the weeks before, she had gone with the Empire and left behind a Force Projection of herself. Since that realisation, he had worked hard to find her and get her out of there before their anniversary came around. Now, he was squeezing through a tight access corridor, on his way to Alexandra.

Alexandra was sitting in the corner of the room. It was a large, dark cell reserved for her torture. Most people in the Empire were unaware that one of the top members of the Empire was being tortured as a terrorist Jedi. But she knew that sooner or later, either a torture droid would be sent in (unlikely) or water would start to flood the cell (much more likely).

Cal and BD hid behind a wall as they listened to the Inquisitors joke about how much longer they were going to make Alexandra wait for her punishment. Eventually, one of them pressed the button and then they all walked away.

Cal snuck in behind them and waited for them to turn the corner before finding his way to the vent right above his head. He doubted that the vent would lead directly to the cell, but he knew he could get to her through it.

Inside, Alexandra watched as the water flooded in. She curled up on the bench and tried to keep her breathing under control. She hated the water, ever since the first time this was used as a torture method for her. She used to love going swimming on Naboo, but now she couldn't stand the thought. The water reached her waist before she started moving. She wanted to keep the water at the waist as long as possible. She wondered how long they would keep her this time...

By the time Cal made it over to the cell, the water was over halfway and Alexandra was struggling to fight the panic attack which was starting. He could feel her panic and moved faster. Alexandra barely registered the blue lightsaber coming down through the ceiling. Her mind was too focused on survival.

Cal dropped into the freezing water. He could see Alexandra mindlessly keeping herself afloat, only paying attention to surviving. "Over here," he said.

Alexandra didn't respond.

Cal swam over to her, grabbed her around the waist, swam back under the hole he cut, and used the Force to send them flying into the ventilation shaft above.

BD chirped happily when he saw them. That seemed to snap Alexandra out of her daze and she smiled at them. "Hey," she said calmly.

Cal kissed the top of her head before starting to lead them back to the Mantis. They made it out without much of a fuss and left for Alderaan. Bail Organa had practically ordered Cal to bring Alexandra to Alderaan when he found out what Cal was planning. Cal was not going to try to argue with the man who saw Alexandra as his own daughter.

A week later, their anniversary arrived. Cal had taken Alexandra out for a picnic in the distant fields of Alderaan. Both had their presents nearby and were waiting for the stars to come out to give them. Unbeknownst to them, they had both picked incredibly sentimental things related to their times in the Jedi order.

Finally, the stars came out and Alexandra and Cal prepared to give their gifts.

"You go first," Cal said.

Alexandra could see in his eyes that there was no arguing this with him. "Okay," Alexandra said as she pulled out a data disk from her utility belt. "BD, c'mere."

BD obliged and accepted the data disk. A small holo of Jaro Tapal appeared and he started talking. It was an old training recording Alexandra had found stashed away in his rooms at the temple one evening as she explored it.

Cal had tears in his eyes as he watched his old master talk. It had been years since he finished the few holos he could find in their crashed venator and he had always wished there had been more.

It was now Cal's turn. He asked Alexandra to close her eyes and not let the Force guide her. She felt him place three things in her hands. They felt familiar in shape and design and she quickly identified them as lightsaber casing parts.

Cal finally told her to open her eyes and watched as her eyes lit up when she recognised the hilt. It was her own from the Clone War. It was a little beaten up and dirty but it was hers.

The parts had been taken when someone raided the old temple some years before and Alexandra had been unable to find them since.

She held them in her hands and felt the memories that came with them flood her mind again. She usually avoided reminders of the past, but her hilt had been one of the only things she kept, as well as the necklace Anakin had carved for Padme.

When Alexandra asked, Cal initially refused to tell, but eventually relented and revealed that he had used connections he had from when he worked with Saw Gerrera to locate the pieces.
