[Y/N] frowned as she examined the pile of cut stones in front of her. The work was sloppier than she had expected, with jagged edges, and small chunks missing here and there. Tools were scattered everywhere, and the entire workshop was a mess. Sighing, she gathered up the crudely cut stones and stowed them away in a bamboo basket before beginning to organize the hart burs in their trays, place the pliers back onto the shelves, and put the sandpaper back into the drawers. She'll fix them up later. Now she understood why her master never let others cut or polish for him... He only trusted himself to get the job done.
Her ears perked up as she heard her phone rattle on the table. Peering over, she checked the notification. It was from Yingxing.
[Yinxing]
[Y/N] , are you available today? I want to show you something. I've been trying something out recently, and I think you might like it. If you're busy then that's fine, I don't want to trouble you.
Pondering his request for a moment, [Y/N] immediately sent him a reply.[Y/N]
Hi Yingxing, I'm not too busy today, so we can meet up somewhere if you'd like. Where do you want to meet up?
[Yingxing]
You can drop by my forge, I'll send you the coordinates.
~ You have received a location message sent by Yinxging. ~
Humming, [Y/N] opened the message and checked the coordinates. His forge wasn't too far from her shop, a couple blocks away near the commerce district. Pocketing her phone, she quickly grabbed a small shoulder bag with her wallet and some other essentials before closing down the store early for the day.It took her roughly fifteen minutes for her to arrive at his forge. Even standing outside of the building, she can hear the clanging of hammer against molten metal. Opening the door, she was greeted with a gust of heat and the sight of Yingxing slouching over his workbench. "Come in, don't forget to close the door behind you."
Nodding, the lady stepped inside and closed the door shut behind her. She watched the craftsman dip the red hot blade into a basin of water, steam rolling off of the surface of the water as the blade turned a darker color. He scrutinized the sword before sighing, and setting it down. "Glad you could make it, [Y/N]." Yingxing smiled at her.
"What is it that you wanted to show me?" [Y/N] asked curiously as she set down her bag on the floor beside her feet.
"I saw this Alexandrite a couple days ago at the market and I was wondering whether or not it was genuine. The guy running the stand kept on insisting that I buy it, so I did. But I'm curious to know whether or not it's real so I'd thought I'd ask you." Yingxing handed her a small box with said stone inside it. "He kept saying that this is one of the best you can find on the market. To be fair though, it does look really nice."
[Y/N] frowned and held it up into the air, allowing the light to shine through the stone as it began to change color. "Well, it does seem real, considering that is changes color with natural light, but I've heard that you can also artificially create these as well, with the same effect. It's hard to come across natural alexandrite nowadays. It is rather small though, compared to the ones I normally see on the market, so it's probably a 0.60 carat."
"So is it real or not?"
"I can't give you an definitive answer unless I have a microscope, sorry." [Y/N] said sheepishly as she handed the box back to Yingxing. "How much did you pay for this?"
