If there is one thing I've learnt in my life, it's that to always remember not everything will go just the way you want it to. There will be disturbances whether you like it or not so it's best to simply accept them as they come.

That's why when I found out a project I was excited to be working on was cancelled over Christmas, I simply accepted it as it came. I also decided that by the project being cancelled it would give me a nice opportunity to have a break from the hectic life of acting, I could take the time and go spend it with friends and family.

So, when my Uncle Fernando invited me to a work gala of sorts, I couldn't refuse. I haven't seen my Uncle since September and I was of course excited to see him again. After all, the man was one of my best friends.

He was always there for me when I needed him, wherever it be physically or just through a phone screen. It didn't matter because he always found a way to cheer me up in a way no one else could.

As a kid I spent the majority of my time with him, going to at least 10 of his races each season along with my parents of course. I've always been his biggest supporter, and he's always been mine.

I still remember the day when I told him I would rarely be attending his races anymore because I was pursuing my dream in acting. He was happy for me of course, but I also remember the slight look of sadness on his face. Nevertheless, he supported my decision fully and he's gone to almost all of my premiere's with me.

As I grew older, we didn't ever grow apart emotionally or anything like that but I was unable to see him as often as I would have liked. We both lived busy lives so it became difficult to find a slot in our calendar where we had even a single hour free at the same time.

I received a text from him about this Gala roughly a week ago, he said I could bring a plus one so I wasn't all alone if he was busy. The dress code was formal but elegant and it was being held in Barcelona which when I read that part I had a smile so big plastered on my face I think aliens may have been able to see it.

I hadn't been back to Spain in a while and considering it's my place of my birth I really should go back more often but I seemed to never have time. I was always in England, America or some random country somewhere else in the world.

I invited my best friend, Rachael, as my plus one because if I didn't I'm 99% sure she would have murdered me. I first met her when I was 10 when my mum took me to the shopping centre to buy a dress to a wedding and that's where we bumped into each other. We've been practically inseparable ever since.

Over the years of our friendship I taught her a lot about F1 and she came to love the motorsport almost as much as I. I knew she'd love to meet some of the drivers in person so this Gala was a perfect opportunity.

I already knew and was friends with some of the F1 drivers but not all. I was probably closest with Alex Albon, George Russell, Lando Norris and Pierre Gasly. We had a group chat with all of us on so we could stay in touch and they'd honestly all become some of the greatest friends I've ever known over the years.

The Gala wasn't until tomorrow but today Rach and I were flying over so we can book ourselves into the hotel and relax for a little bit so we didn't feel rushed. I was rather excited if I was honest to be seeing my Uncle along with the other drivers again.
