Chapter 15

"Hi Doctor Wen."

"Hello, Mr Xiao, I see today you have company. I don't remember you ever bringing someone else other than your mom to these visits."

I could tell Doctor Wen didn't like Yibo's presence, and I didn't even know why.

"Oh yeah, he was mostly away working in Beijing. He is back now, so you will be seeing a lot of him."

"I am guessing he is the father of this baby? So he couldn't take some time off to help you stabilize the pregnancy, considering how much suffering you went through in the beginning."

Yibo flinched at the doctor's words.

He was looking straight at Yibo while saying this. His words would be true in a situation where Yibo knew and didn't care about my suffering. He didn't know, and from the look he had on his face, he was about to lose his temper on Doctor Wen.

"It's a long, complicated story, and neither one of us is going to go into the details of it. The truth of the matter is that we were in two very different places, and now we are here and doing what's best for the baby."

What's with this hospital today? Everyone is all up in my business. Doctor Wen is a very caring person and a close family friend. I don't know him very well, but he knows my mom and brother. He is also a beta, and that is why he couldn't read the room to know that Yibo is unimpressed with his words. I am certain that the annoyed smirk on Yibo's face said a thousand words.

"Hi, was it Doctor Wen? I am Mr Wang Yibo. I am Zhan's partner. Sorry you missed my presence so much, but in the future, you will be seeing a lot of me."

He then extended his hand out for a handshake.

Doctor Wen slowly brought his hand forward and gave Yibo a handshake. I knew Yibo probably held him too tight because I could see Doctor Wen face wincing from the pain.

"I know who you are. I don't think there is a soul in china who doesn't know who you are. Let's all just do our best for the baby. Ok Mr Xiao, can you please get on the scale for me and then after that we will take a look inside and see how baby boy is doing."

I got on the scale, and I seem to have managed to gain a bit of weight. Which made me very happy because it has been an uphill battle to gain enough weight for the baby to be healthy.

"Good to see that weight gain is finally happening. Ok, let's go see baby boy."

"There was no way I couldn't have gained weight, Yibo does a good job at making sure I am eating all my meals.  And since he is around, I don't struggle with nausea anymore."

"That, unfortunately, is the curse of carrying an Alpha's baby as an omega. It creates an unnecessary dependency in a situation that's already hard for a male omega. He should have been doing that from day one, but alas, it is what it is. Anyway, please get on the bed so we can do the scans."

Today, the doctor just seems to be a rather terrible mood. Does he really not like Yibo that much? He is also making a lot of unspoken assumptions about Yibo.

I got on the bed, and just to ease the tension I could see on Yibo's face and also smell in the room, I reached out and held his hand. This action made him smile immediately.

I know when we leave the hospital, we will have a lot to talk about. That kiss as well will probably come up. I might be a prideful man, but I am willing to admit my own emotions. I need Yibo to enjoy this experience because I am happy he is here to go through the rest of the pregnancy with him. I don't really give a damn about Doctor Wens' little sly comments because he doesn't know anything.
