Crocodile and The monkey

Evelyn's Pov

"Uh... hello Caroline." His voice seemed puzzled at the thought of watching me sitting here.

What if you keep meeting someone again and again? Would you call it destiny? This will sound mortifying, right? Hence we will call it the second phase of life.

The second phase of life starts with one and ends with that one. Such thoughts thrilled my body when I saw Aiden Brennan, standing upright in front of me as Caroline's boyfriend.

"Aid!" She shrieked at his greeting. "Come sit here and have a conversation with my best friend. I'll go grab some drinks" she arose from her seat, patting his shoulders for assurance.

"Hey... uh... let me get the drinks. Aren't men the ones who usually do such honors?" His words joggled the woman out of me.

"What do you mean by 'men the ones'?" I barked in their conversation. "You really have such a mentality" I slapped the table with both my hands, and arised from my seat with an indignant expression riding my face.

"Evelyn, he is just trying to be a gentleman." Caroline let out a chortle and left after patting my shoulder, signaling me to sit. "Yea... ah..." Aiden was struggling with words and fidgeting with his fingers under his table. Watching him this way, made me gratified.

After Caroline left, there was a minute of silence. Not any more.

"So, my dear best friend caught her attention towards a majestic people's bard." I smirked, but he was still silent and escaping his eye contact through me.

"Nice to meet you, Aiden Brennan, I am Evelyn Quinn." I placed my hand forward for a handshake, with a smile. He glanced once at my hands and pushed his hand forward.

Ha... it's going easy.

He swayed my hand away and grabbed a glass of water, kept on the table. "Humph! What do you think of you!" I pulled the glass of water which he was drinking.

"Uh... are you a small kid?" He questioned me with sudden unpleasantness, removing a tissue. He wiped the spilled water on his shirt. "I didn't expect her to have someone like you as her friend" his eyes were centered on his shirt while speaking.

Didn't expect her to have a friend like me? Am I that magnificent?

"What do you mean by that?" I crossed my legs and placed my hands on the table, under my chin.

He glimpsed at me and smiled. "Look at you, getting all curious. Are you that silly? She is so charismatic and cute. Conversely, you are so bold and arrogant."

Bold and arrogant? Can I be described by only these two words?

"Though, I don't play with people's feelings." I smiled and grew closer to his face. "Don't you?"

He rammed his finger on my forehead, pushing it scantily back. "Ouch..." I placed my palm on my head, rubbing it to escape the sudden pain.
"You want to tell her that-"

"No, I won't." I crossed my arms and sat comfortably. "I am enjoying feeling it this way. The fear scrambling in your mind as soon as I tell her. Awesome."

"Sigh... that's good though." he uttered sudden relief.

Woah! I can't let this happen.

"But, let's keep a deal such as the crocodile made with the monkey." I exultantly smiled. "Deal?" He figured it with his arms crossed too.

"I won't tell Caroline anything about you, instead you will do anything I say. And dare not hurt her." He placed two of his fingers under his chin, thinking for a moment. "Umm... and how is this the pact such as between the crocodile and the monkey?"
