💀James POV💀
"Day 26: We are still on the road....kinda. Leeanne is still sick. The rest of the group, they're doing fine. Gosh, how could you even define the word 'fine' at this day and age. We're all screwed....Well anyways, we've stopped at some abandoned houses. Food and water have been difficult to come across until we came to this one neighborhood. They must've been waiting for this apocalypse to come down. Sadly, however, they weren't. There had to have been 90 walkers in this place. For such a small neighborhood I'd imagine there would be less....."I put down my journal and pen after hearing someone else wake up. I see Molly come downstairs. "Hey sweetheart." I say to her, "Hey sweetheart, good morning." She says to me. She comes to me and gives me a kiss on my cheek than sits down next to me. "Whatcha writing?" She asks. "Oh this thing? I'm just keeping a journal of what's happened so far." I say. "Well that's convenient." She says. "Yeah I'm just worried about Leeanne though. Doc said if we take her to a pharmacy she'll be fine but we have no idea where one is." I tell her. "Don't worry about it, James. We will get your sister back to health in no time, I promise."
She says to me while gazing into my eyes. "Can I ask you something?" I say. "You can ask me anything, James." Do you think we would be together if it weren't for this apocalypse?" "James, I've liked you for the longest time, we definitely would be." She says. I start to lean into her and she does the same, and right as we are about to kiss we both hear footsteps from upstairs. We look at the stairs to see Lisa coming down. "Hey kids, what are you up to?" She says to us with a grin. "What?! Uh we aren't doing anything." Molly quickly replies. "Mmhmm, okay." She says to us while laughing. In my head I think
"When will I ever have my first kiss?
Am I ever going to or will I die first? Living in this world doesn't really give me the best shot honestly."Lisa grabs my pistol and hands it to me, she does the same with Molly's pistol and gives it to her. "Okay kids, let's go wake everyone up and start looting for the day." I go and wake up Dad and Leeanne and give dad his shotgun. We talk for a minute and than head downstairs to where Doc, Heather, and Joshua are all awake. We each leave the house stealthily to see if any walkers are on the street. Thankfully, none. Me and dad clear one house with Leeanne and Doc. Meanwhile Heather, and Molly's family clears another.
"I'll check the kitchen while you get upstairs." I say to dad. "Sure, and Doc stay here in the living room with Leeanne." Dad says to Doc. "No problem." He sits with Leeanne and talks while I go to the kitchen. I open the fridge to see nothing, absolutely nothing. The pantries had some rice, spices, and a bunch of candy. Looks like from Halloween. I take one out and open it up. Looks pretty good. I take a bite and felt so awesome. I haven't had candy in months...before the outbreak! I was so happy to get candy that without realizing it I ate ten pieces in a minute. There was enough in here to feed a cow. I go to Doc with the candy in a bag. "What's that you got there?" He asks me. "You're never gonna believe this" I say. I drop the bag on the couch.
"Holy crap boy you got candy? Haha it's been ages since I've had that. Is it good?" He asks me. "I've had like ten pieces haha!" "No kidding? Well I'll stay here with Leeanne-" "Did somebody say candy?!" Leeanne looked up. "Leeanne no, we will save you some but none until you start feeling better. We don't have the medicine like we used to to make you feel better." Doc says. "Aw" Leeanne pouts. I go into the downstairs part of the house. There is another living room down there and a bedroom. I walk in the bedroom. A kid, executed on the bed. I can't believe someone could shoot a kid, he doesn't have any but marks, so why did they kill him? I look at the wall to see his picture, but with his twin brother. They both look happy. Sitting on a swing set together just having fun.
I hear footsteps behind me. "Doc?" I ask. I turn around to see the twin brother attacking me, he tries to take a bite out of my arm but I kick him down. The walker is my height so this isn't easy. He gets pushed into a bookshelf while I pull out my knife. I trip trying to stab him and only get his shoulder. He grabs onto me as I scream...but than a bullet shoots through his head. A handgun being held with Doc in the other end. "Thank you." I tell him, pulling my knife out. "Don't worry about it, but you need to be more careful." He says to me. "Wait a sec" I say to him "look at this walker for a moment." "Yeah what about him?" He asks me. "There's no bite mark on him. If he had no bite mark than how did he turn?" Than he points out a scrape on his arm. "It could be that but I think I did that." I tell him. "Well let's not worry about it and worry about if your sister is eating all the candy." "Yeah I guess you're right, but still." We go upstairs to see dad crying in Leeanne's arms.
"What's wrong?!" I scream. "What was that gunshot?" He asks. "Your son was being attacked, it's dead now though." Doc answers. "Oh..." He responds. "Dad we've done this looting stuff a bunch of times, have you not gotten use to it?" I ask him. "No son, I'm used to it, but Leeanne is sick and that can mean anything nowadays." Dad says. Molly comes running over at full pace. "Guys!" She says exhausted. "What is it Molly?" Dad asks.
"We found someone."
