Chapter 18: The Test

💀Lisa's POV💀
We left the farm. We left early that Tuesday morning. It was Charley, Sophie, Paul, and I on our way for some more supplies. Paul and I are in the front seat with him driving, Charley and Sophie are in the back. I hear them whispering something about love and than kissing each other. "Ew get a room." Paul says while laughing. They started laughing as well. On the way we played "i spy" to pass the time. I swear even as adults we can all be such children sometimes. We drive for about twenty minutes and found what looked like a big gas station. We sat by the window for a little to get our guns and ammo ready. Paul walked up to the glass and knocked on it. We waited about ten seconds when a walker came up to the glass. Now keep in mind that this was a two story, run down gas station. We walked in and Paul stabbed the one at the window.

One started walking towards me so I kicked it's leg and stabbed it's brain. That's all there was for the first story. "Everyone take two isles and scrounge as much as you can." Paul instructed us. I went through the candy isle. I remember Molly and I would go through this isle and she would always want Starbursts. And I made that my mission, to get Starbursts. There were Twix, Skittles, Hershey bars, but no Starbursts. I looked high and low and than...Bingo! There they were! "What a relief." I say to myself. I start to grab a the candy for the kids too. I know James likes Twix and Leeanne likes the Skittles. What does Miranda like? I took a guess and grabbed the Snickers. After I filled my cart with all of the supplies from the two isles (the other isle had yard equipment by the way) we brought our stuff outside and packed the car. "Let's check the top story now, but be careful this building doesn't look very sturdy." Paul says. He was right. The building looked like a giant Jenga tower. There was a crashed helicopter on top that caved in the ceiling. It could easily make the whole building weak.

We walked up the stairs and immediately saw two walkers. We threw them down the stairs and stabbed one of them, the impact of the fall crushed the others head in. As we walk upstairs we notice a few walkers already dead. We continue to walk around the bodies. I took a step and the floor broke under my foot. I quickly got up, "We should find some place else." I said. "We are only gonna stay for five minutes. I think we'll be fine." We walk a little bit more around the bodies I'm in the front as I look back at Charley to see a walker grab his leg "NO!" I scream. It takes a massive bite out of his leg. "AGHHH!" He screams as he falls. I pull out my gun and shoot it's head. He lays there in the hallway screaming. "I'm dead, no no no no this can't happen." He starts mumbling. "Charley please don't die....please...you're all I have. Don't die!" Sophie says trying to stop the bleeding. Paul sees a few walkers start to come out from behind the shelves. He shoots one and stabs the other, pushing it into the wall.....CRACK.....SNAP! The wood holding that part of the store was breaking! "Lisa!" Paul screams my name. "You have to cut off his leg!" He says holding off the other dead ones. "What?! No!" Charley says screaming at me. "Isn't there some antibiotics we can give him? I have some in the car." Sophie says. "He could turn before the infection stops. We have to cut his leg off to prevent the infection from getting to his brain!" Just as he says that the left half of the building starts to tear off.

💀Paul's POV💀
"THIS WHOLE BUILDING IS COMING DOWN!" I scream shooting walkers in front of me. "Lisa you have to cut it off!" Lisa looks down. "Got it. Now stay still this is going to hurt a lot!" Lisa screams. She takes her axe and hits it. "AAAAGGGHHH!!!" Charley screams. I look over to see half of his leg off. He stops screaming and passes out. "You killed him!" Sophie screams. "No" I say picking him up, "he passed out." I run downstairs and see walkers. Lisa shoots all of them. I look up and she smiles. "Let's go!" I bring him to the backseat of our car and sit in the front. Lisa sits in the back and holds pressure on his leg. She cut it from the knee up. He was only bit on the ankle but at least we can be somewhat sure if the infection spreads how we think it didn't get far enough. We drive for a little bit longer when Charley starts to wake up. "Charley are you awake?! Speak to me baby." Sophie starts to say. "I'm not gonna lie, this hurts like hell." He barely says than passing out. We made it to the farm late that night and pulled up to the front.

We rushed Charley inside and saw Molly hugging a random woman. James, Doc, and Leeanne were all there too just rushing in. We moved everything off of the dining room table and later him on it. "Doc I need bandages now!" I screamed at Doc. He makes it back in record time with the bandages and handed them to me. I started putting pressure on the wound while Doc began to get his pulse back.

💀James's POV💀
I'm sitting there with Leeanne in shock when dad tells me to take her to another room. I pick up Leeanne and take her up to her room. "James?" She asks me. "Is Charley going to be okay? He's a good guy and good guys don't die." I couldn't promise her anything. "Do you remember Molly's dad? He was a really good guy. Good guys die every day. But Charley is being cared for by Dad and Doc. They are two of the best good guys that are still alive. I think Charley is going to be just fine." I told her. She looked up at me and gave me the biggest hug I've ever gotten. At that moment Molly walked in the room and just stood at the doorway with her cute little smile. She walked in and later down on the bed right beside me and kissed my cheek. Than I thought to myself. "Yeah, he'll be okay."
