It's been a month since we found out I'm pregnant, and I couldn't be more excited. Jongseong, my partner, has become extremely overprotective of me. Even if I'm out with friends, he panics if I don't answer his phone calls. It's sweet, but also a bit overwhelming at times.
We recently found out that we're expecting a baby girl, and Jongseong has been over the moon. He's been constantly crying and rubbing my belly since we got home from the doctor's office. I even caught him falling asleep with his hand on my belly, tears still in his eyes.
After a few minutes, my little brother Jaeyun walked in and saw Jongseong. He shook his head and said, "He finally went to sleep." I giggled and nodded, knowing how worried Jongseong has been.
Jaeyun continued, "Believe me, I know. When I went to the hospital to get you, Jongseong, Ji, and Che, I could see it all over his face. He came to my room and told me how scared he was that something would happen to you and the baby. He's afraid that if something does happen, you'll leave him and he'll fall apart. He doesn't want you to think badly of him."
I frowned and looked down at Jongseong, who was now peacefully sleeping.
Jaeyun called me "noona," which he only does when he's upset. I noticed tears forming in his eyes and reached for his hand. "What's the matter???" I asked.
He replied, "I'm just a bit scared. I tried to hide it, but I'm really scared."
I asked, "What's scaring you???"
He explained, "I'm scared that something will happen to you. I mean, you got stabbed before, and I was terrified of losing my big sister."
My heart ached as tears rolled down his cheeks. I pulled him close and lay between him and Jongseong. "Things will be okay. We aren't in any danger. Just relax," I reassured him.
He buried his face into my neck, just like he used to do when we were kids. I rubbed his back, trying to calm him down. Being a mother now, I understand my brother's concerns and fears. But I know that with the love and support of my family, we will get through anything that comes our way.
