Leilani's shift had just ended and she quickly ran home to her apartment to change. She was excited to see Pedro, when she met him at that sidewalk it was different from in the cafe. He was just so charming to her. The way he smiled at her as he helped her up from the ground. God, just thinking about it made her grin.
She had a pretty fast outfit change, considering the outfit was already laid out on her bed. She walked towards the mirror in her living room and snapped a quick picture infront of a mirror for her social media.

Leilani ran towards the cafe, she was right on time. She brought her headphones in case she would have to wait and she did have to wait. She waited 3 hours, she tried to message him, call him but nothing worked. She was stood up. She sat down on an empty chair and put on her playlist. 'I thought he would show up. I showed up..' tears brimmed her eyelids. 'I really thought he was a nice guy. I guess not..' she sat there for minutes, contemplating. Tears streamed down her face, she didn't know why she was crying. It wasn't technically a date. She got up and started walking away. Walking far away, not to her apartment, not anywhere even close to her apartment. She needed to talk to Jessica.
Jessica was her childhood best friend, ever since Leilani moved to the US. Jessica even moved to NYC with Leilani.
Leilani got to Jessica's house and knocked on the door.
Pedros POV:
"I really have to go" He checked the time and his eyes widened. "OH SHIT" He jumped off the couch and quickly grabbed his belongings. "And where do you 'really have to go to' to be exact? You have a free day today amigo, you said you cleared out your schedule" Questioned a man who had been sitting on a chair opposite to the couch. "Well, uh I might have forgotten to tell you this, but I have a date, Oscar." Pedro explained as quickly as he could in a very VERY, panicked tone. "A DATE? Pedro do not tell me you are late." Pedro glared at him. Oscar started laughing "You are so screwed man!! If I was late to a date with Elvira? I would have to dig my own grave!" Pedro scowled "You are not helping!!" Pedro was half an inch out the door until Oscar with his big mouth, had one more thing to say. "Before you leave, who's the lucky lady?" He asked genuinely. "One of the Barista's from that cafe I've been going to this month" as soon as the last word left Pedro's mouth he dashed out the door, forgetting to close it. "CLOSE THE DOOR- Ah. Forget it."
END OF POV
"I just don't get it Jessica! He seemed genuine about it!" Leilani cried into a pillow. Jessica sat next to Lani and rubbed her back. "Looking from the texts, your right. You seem really serious about this guy even though you just met him. After all you used my whole name!!" Jessica smiled, trying to use jokes, to cheer her friend up. All of a sudden a ping came from Leilani's phone. No one noticed but Jessica. "Lani I gotta go bathroom.. keep crying into this pillow for me ok?" Leilani sniffled back as a response.
As Jessica walked past, she picked up Leilani's phone and headed to the kitchen. She opened up the chat.
Pedro
Pedro: Oh my god, Lani I'm so so sorry. I'm running late, I fell asleep at my friend's place and I lost track of time.
Me: So you must be Pedro? This is Jessica. I'm one of Leilani's friends. She's currently crying in my room about you.
Pedro: CRYING? Oh gosh I'm so sorry, is there anything I can do to help?
Me: Alr. Come to [REDACTED ADRESS].
Pedro: Ok, I'm on my way!
Jessica smiled, and walked back to the bedroom and quickly put the phone down before Lani could notice. "So about this Pedro guy. How deeply are you inlove with him with just looks and personality so far? Even if it's over text"
11:47pm
A knock came from Jessica's front door, and Jessica immediately knew who it was. Leilani was sleeping on her bed. She opened the door and Pedro stood there hands behind his back obviously holding something but it was out of sight. "Come in, she's asleep but I'll wake her up-" Jessica didn't get to finish her sentence "Wait no, don't. You should let her sleep.. just uh tell her this is for her" Pedro gave Jessica a bouquet from behind his back. "How did you get a bouquet this fast- aren't bouquets expensive?" Jessica was kinda shocked. "I have a few friends who know their ways." He chuckled. Jessica took the bouquet and put it in a vase so it didn't die overnight. "Thank you. She'll appreciate this. But if you hurt her I will not hesitate to get my brother, who is in the Navy by the way, to jump you." Pedro was a bit threatened but brushed it off. "Tell her if she wants, we can reschedule for tomorrow" Pedro then walked away back to his car, and Jessica waved. Jessica closed the door. "Holy shit, Lani totally scored!!" Jessica jumped in the air.
9:36am
Leilani yawned as she woke up and saw the morning light, entering the room. Her face was still stained with tears and mascara marks but it didn't bother her anymore. She walked into the living room and spotted a bunch of Pink Roses sitting in a vase. "Probably from one of Jessica's admirers" Leilani picked up the note next to it and read it.
'Sorry I didn't show up. Check your messages! I'll explain it there when your awake :) ❤️'

Leilani's heart smiled, and so did she. She wiped the mascara marks off her face and went into the living room to wake up Jessica.
