Chapter 8 - A Terko Debut of Trivia!

"Here we go! The Tri-Cities!" Ash cheered as he and Serena entered the city limits.

It wasn't too hard to get to town from where they camped on the top of the Cascades. It was mostly downhill and they didn't have any problems with the wild pokémon they passed. Finally, a day and a half later, they were in the Colombia valley and they followed the river. Now, they were headed for the pokémon center.

"Welcome to the Pokémon Center." Nurse Joy said. "What can I help you with today?"

"We'd like a check-up on our pokémon and two beds for tonight, please." Ash said.

"Alright. Here is your key. Would you place your pokemon on this cart?" A padded metal cart with a tray was rolled in by an Audino. Ash and Serena placed their pokéballs on the tray and Pikachu hopped onto the cart and laid down. "Great! We'll let you know when they're ready. Enjoy your stay!"

"Thanks, Nurse Joy!" Ash and Serena said. A few minutes later, they got those pokémon and walked up the stairs to the motel section.

"Alright. Let's drop off our stuff in our room and take a short break. The performance is in a few hours." Serena suggested.

"Sounds good with me." Ash agreed.

As Ash took his turn in the shower first, Serena sat on her bed and brought out Sylveon and Roselia. "Alright, you two. Let's use your performance for tonight. Now that we've got that special practice in, I'm sure we'll win."

An hour later, the teens stepped out of their room for the show.

"-But you know Venusaur still has all the experience." Came a familiar female voice from a door that just opened down the hall.

"Well, it might have the experience as a Bulbasaur and Ivysaur, but it experienced a major change to its body when it evolved. Sure, it's adapted rather well so far, but I wouldn't risk it if I were you." Came another familiar male voice.

Three teenagers came out from a room several yards away and Serena immediately recognized them.

"Shauna! Tierno! Trevor!" She exclaimed and ran up to them.

"Huh? Serena?" Shauna asked.

The two girls collided in a hug and squealed for joy.

"What are you doing here?" Serena asked.

"We're here for my first Terko showcase!" Shauna said. "You?"

"Same! And Ash is going to challenge the gyms after this." Serena replied.

"You're going after the gyms too, eh, Ash?" Tierno asked.

"Yeah. I hear the first one will be in Portland, so that's our next target after Serena wins this Showcase." Ash said.

"That's what you think. I plan on winning all my keys starting right here." Shauna said with a smirk.

"I guess we'll see on stage." Serena said with a matching smirk of her own. "But we should catch up on our way to the show!"

"Agreed." Trevor said, causing the whole group to turn towards the stairs.

"Were you just talking about a Venusaur? Shauna, did your Ivysaur evolve?" Serena asked.

"Yeah," Shauna replied, "after years of not wanting to evolve, it finally happened on our way here."

"Wow, congratulations!" Ash said.

"Thanks, Ash." Shauna replied. "Problem is, now I'm unsure whether to use Venusaur for tonight."

"You'll do great." Serena said.
