"Ladies and Gentlemen, you have watched as six performers have proceeded through the themed elimination round. Now, it is time for their freestyle performances!" The Showcase host, Felix O'Leary announced from on top of the riverboat.
Serena looked across the dressing room. Since she knew she was going second, she was already prepared and in her performance dress.
Shauna had her Venusaur and Gothorita out and was talking to them. Shauna had also done well in the elimination round. She had used her Floette to retrieve the balls quickly and then answered the trivia confidently.
As Serena scanned the room, there was one other girl who stood out to her. She had long, wavy brown hair and a rather simple pink dress.
She had a small mouse-like pokémon with her that Serena hadn't seen before. It had green fur with small flowers on its back. It had large, round eyes and on its tail were several pink flowers that gave an extremely sweet smell.

Serena was about to use her pokédex to identify it, but Felix had ended his speech and called out the first performer, so Serena refocused herself on the screen.
The first performer did well with her Shinx, and then it was Serena's turn. She nodded encouragingly to her pokémon, then walked onstage.
"Alright, let's go!" Serena called out, twirling. "Roselia, use Leech Seed!"
Roselia fired several seeds around them, which quickly grew into dark green vines that danced and swayed around with some sort of rhythm.
"Roselia, use Razor Leaf, and Sylveon, use Moonblast!"
Roselia fired a bunch of razor-sharp green leaves into the air where they swirled around for a bit before Sylveon hit it with a ball of pink fairy energy. The two moves exploded into green and pink sparkles that rained down while the three performers danced.
"Sylveon! Throw her!"
Sylveon reached out with her feelers to Roselia, tossing her high above the ground, before using Fairy Wind to keep her in the air.
Roselia was nervous about the next part. It had done this routine a few times, including when they performed it for Mara and her mom, but since then, Serena suggested a slight change to it.
While Roselia twirled in the pink haze, it shot several Poison Stings into the air around it as Serena, Sylveon, and the vines were wrapping up their dances.
The problem was that although Roselia had been in Contests before, it hasn't used moves while in the air before. Every time Roselia fired a Poison Sting, her spin became a little less controlled.
Serena noticed this, and became worried. "Ready?" Serena yelled, letting her pokémon know that they were improvising. "And, now!" Serena said. Sylveon stopped the Fairy Wind, allowing Roselia to fall.
