"Good work, keep it up! Keep focused on what's ahead of you with your blade! Don't think, just act and follow your gut! Your instincts matter to remain aware."I say, pacing the rows of pairs fighting

I smile, seeing them working to give their all.

"Be sure to use the advantages you have. Powers you gained, parts of your curse, use anything you can because the enemy won't hesitate to take you out with any means necessary that they can use. These are not folks to show weakness to."I advise them

"Yes, Sir!"They all shout, continuing to fight harder

I have taken on many roles in this newly forming society as Outer continues to take in more refugees who may be targeted by the cult. I run a tavern here, help them establish businesses, help them adjust to a more diverse society, and come out of hiding here. I take great pleasure in helping them embrace themselves and the sweeter sides of their curses or differences, especially doing so without judgment or risk to themselves. It's honestly more united this way. I also help guide Outer on how to run this land by providing the perspective of the cursed while someone else provides the perspective of the "abnormal". He has collected forbidden books on curses or abnormalities that were locked away from the public to put into a library, allowing many to figure out what they have and the source instead of just a mystery.

None have defined what I have though.

In addition to that, I've been trained by him in formal combat while I teach my own tricks of fighting to defend themselves or others from threats and guide them on how to use their differences as an advantage. It's better for them to know in case they ever get into trouble for whatever reason and stars forbid, get met with one of those cults. I've even assisted with border patrol around the mountains and seas to make sure that this secret hideaway is kept secret from the wrong kind of people. The only good encounter in these patrols has been meeting Error and informing him of where I've been. He was surprised but happy to hear about such a place. Though he currently prefers his current lifestyle and that's where we parted ways.

I've gotten pretty involved in things here but why wouldn't I? This independent society is so much fun and I want to preserve it as much as possible!

That's not to say that this sanctuary cuts all ties and communication to the outside world off. People still discuss things that they know or have heard about events going on out there or people. It's interesting to see how this sanctuary flips everything with the outside world on its head, including popular views that they talk about.

Chirpx5!

I glance up, seeing my messenger bird returning. I extend my arm for it to land on, which it does. I see purple string tied around the letter it holds and grin. This is the letter I've been anxiously waiting for. I glance over to the training groups.

"I think this is enough for today. Dismissed."I say

They all nod and disperse into the towns to do as they please. I take the letter from the bird and feed it some seeds, making it very happy. I unrolled the letter and smiled, recognizing Nightmare's handwriting quickly by now after sending letters so many times. And this one is the response to my letter where I....revealed my curse to him. I read his letter carefully and smile, feeling relief wash over with his response. Very understanding and glad that he gained my trust to share this. He even reveals the details of his curse to me and they're very similar, having nightly transformations but with some vision loss unlike with my curse. Hmm, maybe there were extra spells mixed into the curse to cause that. My curse comes with special conditions as well, such as how abnormal my soul is shaped because of it which I explained to him in my previous letter.

I walk along a lonely dirt path while reading the letter, unable to stop smiling. These letters have been very sweet and I feel like I'm getting a better connection with him now. My soul beats faster, my face burns a bit when I read his letters, and he has been on my mind often.....Wait....Nooo! I can't fall for him! He's a prince waiting for an arranged marriage! And it's not as if I'm the perfect match for him...I'd probably screw it all up...if not with him then someone else...Especially given what I learned about my curse.....

I take a paper out from my satchel and start writing a response, smiling at the signature he left me with.

I sort of liked how decorative it looked.

Yours...? Oh, Nightmare...your affection knows no limits. And to think that some distance would've gotten him to move on...Then again, my feelings have only grown for him with these letters...Perhaps it is true...That's just sadder with the circumstances.

Then I hear a commotion and glance over, seeing a group by the shore screaming in a panic.

"What is HE doing here? How'd he get here?"Some ask

"Are there groups closing in? I thought this was hidden away! What if they come for him?"

"What do we do?"

I walk over, finding Dream unconscious in the sand with his clothes torn. I shake my head, finishing writing the letter and warning Nightmare about this discovery. The bird quickly takes it away while I carry Dream to get taken cared of properly.

"Killer, what are you doing?"One asks

"Taking care of him. He needs help and we're doomed if he is discovered in bad shape."I say

"Right...Of course."He says

What the heck just started?
