Killer's POV
He leads me to the highest balcony so that nobody could get the drop on us or see us unless they boldly intrude into our sight. I smile at him, seeing the smile returned. I glance around, removing my hat and the veil with it.
"Woah...That completely hid your face! Changing it too to hide your marks! Your voice sounded different!"He says
"Interesting..."I say
"What brings you here? I thought it wasn't safe for you to come out."He says
"That's why I came in disguise. Outer says that it'd be better to do so and needed my help for a few tasks around the time of this party."I say, leaning on the railing.
"It's really good to see you again. I've missed you a lot. I can't wait for this party to end and go home. I am not sure if you've heard, but Dust and Horror have------"He says, going off on a rant
I smile, seeing how happy he looks. This is the happiest that I've seen him all day. Then something snaps, catching my attention. I zone out of his conversation, gazing across the horizon. I spot a few flashes of metal in the distance and movement in the trees. I summon a few knives, fire them out, and send groups hidden in the trees running for their lives. I glance at Nightmare, seeing his alarm.
"Seems like we can't be casual at the moment. I'll explain things but I essentially came here for you to join me."I tell him
"Join......Join you?"He asks
I nod, putting my hat on again as the veil hides my face again. I put my gloves on, extending my hand to him.
"Will you join me, Nightmare?"I ask
I see his cheeks turn purple and he carefully places his hand in mine, nodding. I hear heavy footsteps marching closer in the halls and snap my fingers, checking for souls. I see multiple souls with outlines of their owners, each wielding hidden weapons or tools heading this way and trying to get the door open. I frown, glancing around.
"Alright, good. Just trust me."I tell him
"Always."He says with a smile.
I scoop him up in my arms, hopping onto the railing as he looks at me in surprise.
"Hold onto your crown then. "I say
He grips my shoulder and his crown, bracing for what's coming. I leap down, summoning a beast below me and landing on it. It carefully lowers beside Outer's ship for me to hop off before it fades. I climb onto the ship and grin, seeing Nightmare's shock.
"What was that?"He asks
"A new trick I learned. Speaking of tricks, give me a sec. "I say, setting him down
I get out a crystal and a candle, light the candle, and set the crystal above it, causing the smoke to turn a dark green. Within seconds, Outer boards the ship and shakes hands with Nightmare.
"I managed to keep them busy bragging about themselves. Let's get out before it's too late."He says
The ship quickly starts sailing off. Then I drop a pearl into the water. A few minutes later, misty fog forms, and the water behind us forms uneasy and rougher.
"Killer, what did you do?"Outer asks
"Get help to cover our tracks. "I say proudly
"Uggh, who did you befriend this time? I swear you find the strangest places to get company."He says
"The Sea Twister! And that's the fun of it!"I say
"How many wanted poster friends does that make it now?"He asks, shaking his head.
"Four!"I chuckle, blowing the candle out and tucking things back into my bag.
Nightmare quickly grips my hand again, his face glowing a bright purple. I smile, feeling our fingers intertwine. He takes the next step, hugging my arm and glancing away.
"So, is now a good time to tell you the situation?"I ask
He nods, glancing at me.
"We've heard plots to make this a different kind of farewell party...Plots to take and harm you...So we took action."Outer says
"So now you'll be with us where you're safe!"I say
He smiles at me happily.
"But we must warn you that the community really loves you...They may swarm around you and be very eager to get your attention. Come to think of it, you'll need a safe place to stay. Should we...?"Outer says
"He can stay with me. "I say
Nightmare glances at me in surprise, then hugs my arm tighter.
"Alright, but can I have a word with you, Nightmare?"Outer asks
Nightmare nods, seeming to reluctantly leave my side to privately speak with him. I go down to the lower deck where the rooms are. I enter my room, changing out of my disguise into different clothes. I check my soul, seeing that it changed shape. I smile, examining the heart shape that it has taken. Then I hear a door creak open suddenly. I turn around, glancing over to see Nightmare stepping in with his head down.
"Outer explained things to me and I just wanted to know if there's anything I should look out for. And perhaps figure out how the new arrangements are going to work."He says, glancing down.
The door creaks shut with a click.
"Alright. Let me think...Outer probably covered everything with how things run and if not that then there's what I told you in the letters. There's hardly any issues aside from the usual village disagreements and such in a routine. Hmm, I've never lived with someone before. That certainly needs some thought...Hmm..."I say, tucking the disguise in a drawer.
I shut the drawers and walk over to him, setting other stuff aside to focus.
"Well we know each other's secret so we don't have to worry about it. We can figure out how to divide or organize the space. There's a spare room in my house so you could stay there..."I say, then notice his face
His face is burning a bright purple and his eyes shrink to small dots.
Strange....
I place a hand on his cheek, feeling him jolt and his face burns more.
"Your...soul changed..."He says
I glance down, seeing that my soul is visible. I didn't put a shirt on...Right.
"Yeah, it has been doing that lately."I say
I smirk, leaning closer to him.
"Do you like it?"I ask
His face burns a darker purple, his gaze scanning me down and then back up. I chuckle, seeing his entire face get engulfed in a purple glow.
"Is there something else you like?"I ask teasingly
"SHUT UP AND GET A SHIRT ON!"He says, shielding his face from me with a hand and turning away.
I chuckle, going into my drawers.
"Of course, Nightmare. "I say
