Killer's POV a few weeks later

I sigh, shaking my head. Things seem so complicated right now. In both good and bad ways. I've made plenty of friends from spending time in this tradition under the name of "dates" and have had plenty of company chilling at home the past few days. I especially enjoy Outer's company, feeling very safe talking to him given that the curse issue is out in the open between us.

Yet the best I could say about my connection with Nightmare is..awkward lately ever since he sent that letter to me. He has been understanding and nice since the rejection, but conversations with him seem awkward or strained. How am I supposed to act when a prince confesses his feelings that I don't reciprocate? Am I supposed to even believe him? One minute he says I am a friend, the next he says that I'm more. Can he even be true or make up his mind? How do I know that he won't get tired of me and toss me aside, changing his mind again? It's so complicated and confusing...

Never mind that now. Winter is over so that tradition is over as well. Spring is blooming so soon I can see Moony again. Maybe talking with him will help things. Help me at least. But right now, I have to go meet Outer as he says that it's important.

I ran quickly to the town garden where we agreed that we would meet to find him placing a red tablecloth over a picnic table with a candle and a big grin. He is wearing flashier clothes than usual, certainly more formal attire than what he normally wore around me.

What is this about?

"Oh! Hello, Killer! Come, let's sit and chat. I think you'll find it rather important."He says

I nod, sitting across from him and he folds his hands together, his posture becoming rigidly tense.

Okay, certainly serious.

"Have you heard the latest about the Pure Exterminators?"He asks

I shake my head, though know the group and have heard of it before.

"Are they still the pain in the ass I know them for?"I ask

"Yep and growing bigger. They just raided an entire city with numerous deaths and fires...They're getting stronger and that's what concerns me. They do not consider guilt or innocence, they will kill any cursed or considered abnormal without a second thought. And they are starting to target any who protect or associate with these groups as well, that being friends or family. They'll burn villages to the ground if they must...But of course, no authorities care..."He tells me

"It never affects them so they don't care. Safe in their golden castles and mansions."I sigh, shaking my head

"Well, I'm going to make a change. I'm not going to sit around and wait for those lunatics to force my hand. And I certainly won't let you become endangered if they ever come this way. So that's why I called you here. I have an offer for you."He says, digging into his pocket

He gets up, patting himself down and searching his pockets.

"An offer? But you just said that anyone associating with their targets will be harmed. What do you have to gain by putting yourself at risk?"I ask

"A clean conscience and happiness with the outcome that you are safe. The ability to say that I did something than being unable to sleep with the guilt of being able to help but didn't. The last thing I want to come across my desk is a letter of news informing of your death in a village attack of some sort when I could've helped. So, here is when I make my proposal."He says, taking out a small box as he gets down on a knee.

What is he doing...? Is he out of his mind?

"Killer, I promise that I can protect you. I have all the resources and power to do so. From that cult, raiders, royalty, whoever it may be! I have all the plans arranged and the territory being built as we speak! It is nearly finished! All you have to do is say yes and you will have all you will ever need without fear of being attacked! I could even get resources to cure you but even without that, I can provide you the perfect place to stay safe from any threats for what you have. It's not your fault, you don't deserve to die for it and I'm here to support you. So, what do you say?"He explains, extending the box to me.

He opens it and my soul beats anxiously quicker with each word he speaks. The sun shines on the box's contents, blinding me for a moment before I see that inside there's.....a key.

"Will you come join me, Killer?"He asks

"Join you?"I repeat

"Yes! I have claimed distant territories big enough to support entire cities! Tall mountains protect it but I have walls being built just in case and the only entrance to it is by sea! Farms and markets are already being made along with any other institution that could be needed! Schools, shops, city halls, libraries, taverns, parks, all of it! And plenty of homes! I'm making it for all who may be a target of this cult, abnormal by their standards, or cursed! Their own little paradise or utopia where they can be safe from any dangers posed to them! I have already started to spread the word through friends and organizations for any who may need it, but I especially want to offer it to you! You, Killer, are one of my closest friends who I desire to protect! Join me and you'll be safe there and happy! You could even help lead with your knowledge and experience! This is the key to the house I have prepared for you! So what do you say?"He says eagerly

I gaze at him, seeing that he is both serious and eager about this. He is clearly being honest and his motives are clear. That is clearly a good option and may be the best option for me considering my safety, but should I really abandon my entire life and loved ones? Is it really fair to abandon them for security if they may be a target as well? Or even ask for them to drop everything to join me as well?

It's a lot to take in and consider.

He seems to realize this, handing me the box once he shuts it.

"You don't have to give me an answer right now. Think it over and tell me when you're ready. I have some things to tend to. I just wanted to be sure that you know that you have options."He says

He leaves a few moments later. I see the sun going down and rush to put the box in my house. I grab my cloak and run to the water.

I have more to consider I guess.
