●Unplanned Encounters●
The city of London was busy as always, with horse-drawn carriages moving briskly and the hustle of pedestrians. You, a journalist for a local newspaper, were on your way to an interview. Time was of the essence, and as you looked down at your notes, you accidentally bumped into someone, causing your papers to scatter.
"Apologies!" you exclaimed, bending down to pick up your belongings. A gentle hand reached out to assist you.
As you looked up, your eyes met the sharp, calculating gaze of William Moriarty. His face was one you recognized but had never personally met. His reputation preceded him; an enigma in London's high society.
"It's quite alright," he said with a polite smile, handing you the last of your papers.
"Thank you, Mr. Moriarty," you replied, trying to keep your voice steady.
He raised an eyebrow. "You know of me?"
"Your reputation is hard to miss," you said, trying to keep the conversation neutral. "I'm a journalist. It's my job to know."
William looked intrigued. "A journalist? Then you must have a unique perspective on London's state of affairs."
You nodded, "I try to shed light on the truth, but it's not always easy."
William leaned in slightly, "The truth is a fickle thing, and often, it's shaped by those with power."
You looked at him, intrigued by his perspective. "And what's your truth, Mr. Moriarty?"
His eyes gleamed with mischief. "Now, that's a story for another time."
Before you could respond, a carriage stopped beside him, and he offered you a tip of his hat. "Until we meet again," he said, leaving you intrigued and with a plethora of questions.
The rest of your day was consumed with thoughts of William Moriarty, and you couldn't help but wonder what mysteries he held.
