"Be a darling and go get Papa some more rum will you?" Jack was sat in a booth in The Faithful Bride with his back against the wall and his arm draped round Angelica. He had handed his empty tankard to his daughter who sighed but finished her cup and stood, gathering the empties from her father's crew mates, Barbossa, Gibbs and Scrum and of course her dear mother. "One of these days you're gonna have to get your own rum aye?" She said. "Aye luv, but not today?" He said with a smile that still made his wife melt after close to twenty years of marriage, and goodness knows how many on and off years beforehand fooling around with one another. Ruby Sparrow made her way over to the bar, she knew there were pirate's eyes on her, she wasn't arrogant but she knew she was pretty, and that men were attracted to her, hell with a mother like hers it would be damn unlucky not to be. She had long wavy brunette hair that lusciously fell down her back. Her black breeches clinged to her figure and were tucked into her black boots, her baggy white shirt was held in with one of her mother's old black corsets that Angelica had finally relented a few years back and given her daughter aged 16 because she was sick of her teenage daughter constantly stealing it. Ruby had recently started to tie a red sash around her waist mimicking her father and as always she had on her tri point hat, a sure tell she was a Sparrow. A man close to the bar stopped her "Aye luv... you're far too pretty to work here. You should be in that brothel down the road, you'd fetch at least two silver pieces." Ruby was shocked and sarcastically turned "Wow, that many huh?" She placed the empty cups on the worn bar and summoned the barman. "Terry.. same again. And add it to my father's tab." She said smugly. If he was gonna make her get up and get the rum then he sure as hell was gonna pay for it.
"Ere' you're that Sparrow girl aren't ya..." another man said with a sleazy smile. "Maybe.. who's asking?" Ruby said with her hand close to her sword and pistol tucked into her belt. "Just curious ain't I... after all your father had a hand in the legend that is." Her father had told many a tale to many people, some true and some not so true. She lent on the bar before turning her head. "And what legend are you referring to exactly?" The man who was shielded by a large hat and scarf said "The battle with Davy Jones." The group of men stood further along the bar stopped their conversation and looked at the stranger and Ruby. The latter furrowed her eyebrows. "Davy Jones?" She questioned. "Yeah the very one. Rumour has it, your father was key in his downfall, gave up immortality for a pal." Ruby nodded knowing the full story but slowly was losing patience as the last cup of rum was placed in front of her. "Rumour has it... he's back." "Who's back?" Ruby said rolling her eyes. "DAVY JONES." The man said before spinning on the spot and leaving the crowded Tavern. Putting it down to yet another strange interaction in Tortuga, Ruby gathered the tankards and headed back to her table, of course there were catcalls and whistles along the way but a stern look from her was enough to shut most of the men up. If her threat wasn't enough, the threat of the legendary Captain Jack Sparrow definitely was.
"She's growing more and more beautiful." Angelica said quietly watching her daughter walk back across the room. "Aye... she's a beaut, but how can she not be with you as her mother." "Oh you, you can always be so charming. What is it you're after?" She said looking up at her pirate. "Now now luv.. not in front of my first mate and former mutineer." Angelica rolled her eyes before Scrum said "I imagine that Turner boy and your girl will be married before the year is out won't they?" Barbossa's eyes widened. "Married?!" He scoffed. "Not my daughter." He said before feeding a peanut to Jack the monkey. Gibbs looked across the bar as he spotted Ruby making her way back to the table, "Jack.. we need to take that pistol off your girl!" "Why's that Joshamee?" "Well that look she just gave him over there, I reckon she'd kill him if she wasn't so scared of spilling your rum." Jack smirked "Nobody spills my rum." Ruby finally arrived at the table with a huff. "What's up my darling?" Angelica asked sitting up and moving closer to her daughter. "These men are pigs." She gestured around making Barbossa, Gibbs and Scrum's eyes widen. "Present company is questionable." She added with a smile. "Of course they are pigs, that's why they are pirates." The mother said smiling. "Anyway... there's a man over there somewhere. He knows of you Dad..." "A lot of people know me sweetness..." "This was different, he knew the story about you and Davy Jones...." "go on..." Jack lent in on the small table on his elbows as he sipped from his tankard. "He says..." Ruby began giggling. "Can you believe it.." she continued. "He thinks... Davy Jones may still be alive!" She said proper belly laughing and throwing her head back whilst picking up her cup. "I mean what are the chances? Somebody has gone mad in the heat haven't they?" She added looking at Barbossa who stared at Jack who looked at Gibbs worryingly.
After a few moments, Angelica smiled "Well that's ridiculous... granted the world is full of peculiarities but that's just not possible." She looked at Jack nervously only ever hearing the story from him before. He took a large sip before saying "Course it's not possible." He scoffed but everyone could tell he wasn't confident. "Anyway... how much silver was the rum?" He asked his daughter. "Oh I didn't pay.. it's on your tab." She said smugly sipping hers. He pouted slightly before she replied simply with a smile. "Pirate."
