Feeling my back against the locker, I winced as the lock dug in, causing my shoulder to protest at the action. But it couldn't be helped.
Not when the Queen Bee was around.
Said School Queen Bee was Bethany Manter. No one messed with her, so I didn't understand as to why I was getting slammed into a locker by the one and only.
"Do they know how you whored yourself out?" She hissed in my ear, venom in her voice.
Okay, so something happened in the first year of High School. I'd gone to juniors prom that year, without a date because I didn't know anyone then. I'd moved over from England at the start of the School year and no one was willing to get to know the nerdy British girl.
So I'd gone to the dance, because my parents had pushed me to go and I was basically bored all night. Until one of the jocks cornered me and tried to do shit to me that I didn't want being done. So I kneed him and he backed away.
But in Bethany's mind, I led him on before I saw her walk out of the room and I pushed him away to make it look like I was innocent.
But in truth, the guy didn't even lead me on, he just cornered me.
"Does he know you cheat on him every day?" I retorted sarcastically and she narrowed her eyes, slamming her fist next to my head. I flinched and let out a yell as she gripped my hair.
Contrary to popular belief, not all of the cheerleaders were blonde bimbos who couldn't fight for themselves.
"Well if he finds out, I suggest that you did the knife a little deeper when you cut. Because if you don't, I will. It's not like anyone would miss you."
"Actually, I'd miss her. Now fuck off Bethany." I felt a smile creep onto my lips as her eyes widened before her face turned to my saviour and crush, Alex Gaskarth.
"But Alex baby, we were just having a talk." She purred, making me pull a face and I noticed that Alex struggled to to not smile at me.
"Of course you were talking. Just casually telling Cat that she should kill herself, were we?" She hand't expected that and froze before rolling her eyes and walking away.
"Freaks." She muttered and I ignored her, letting my arms fling themselves around Alex's neck and he laughed, his arms settling around my waist.
"Don't listen to her KitCat. I wasn't kidding when I said I'd miss you." He hummed in my ear and I just held him that little bit tighter.
"I'm not going to listen to some cheap whore who can't keep it out of her pants." I rolled my eyes as he started laughing, hiding his face in my shoulder to muffle the laughter.
"You're amazing, you know that?" He hummed once he'd calmed down. This caused my cheeks to burn up and I rolled my eyes.
"C'mon prince Charming. Time for band practice." I muttered and pulled him away from the school as we walked home in the nice sunshine, a cool breeze keeping us from sweating like pigs under the summer heat.
"Cat, if I asked you something, would you answer truthfully?" Glancing over at Alex as we walked, I nodded my head.
"Of course."
He hesitated before half smiling.
"Has anyone asked you to Seniors prom this year?" I shook my head at him, trying my best to hide the disappointment.
"No one wants to go with the British freak who clearly relys on others to fight her own battles." I mumbled silently and I heard something from Alex, but he never really elaborated on what he said, so we ended up walking back to his in silence.
