If there is anything Min Yoongi absolutely sucks at, it is comforting a crying person. He would flee the scene as soon as the situation arose. But now as he heard you break down over the call, he wanted so badly to know how to comfort you. So he did the first thing that popped into his mind. He pulled up another window screen and typed the words that he never thought would be typing.
'How to comfort someone who is crying?' He typed in and hesitated, 'when you don't know the reason.' He typed like an after thought. The more detailed the query the more accurate response would be shown. Basic SEO stuff.
9 effective ways to comfort someone:Ask them what you can do for themBe a safe place for them to landTry something somatic based, like walkingSimply be a comforting presenceBe patient and understandingSend them encouraging textsValidate them & make them feel understood
As he read through the steps, he was more confused than when he had begun. Deciding that the search result was unhelpful, he decided to wing it. This could go either ways. Either you end up crying more and putting in a complaint or he would successfully solve your issue.
"Hey, Can you hear me?" He asks timidly surprising himself. You didn't respond but your sniffles had turned silent telling Yoongi that you were listening. "I don't why you are crying. But I know for sure that you are not crying because your presentation is missing. If it is any assurance, I keep losing my...my customer... service presentations all the time."
"Really?" You asked in the smallest voice and Yoongi felt a pang in his heart.
"Oh yeah, really. And I feel like crying all the time." Yoongi continued mentally cringing.
"Now, you are just making fun of me." You say already diverted from the reason for your tears and imagining this faceless rude customer service guy crying over a presentation. It does make you chuckle but you would never tell him that.
"I'm sure you imagined a buff rude customer service guy crying over a missing presentation and I bet it made you smile a little."
"Maybe."
"Now tell me what's the issue?"
"I just miss my husband." You say absent-mindedly.
"Umm. I meant the issue with the software but okay. Why don't you try talking or meeting him?" Yoongi asks naively unaware of your situation.
"I wish. I would have to die for that."
"What kind of husband is he? Does he not care at all? Is he that busy and away from you that he would only show up at such a grave situation? I can't-"
"Hey hey, it's not like that." You interrupt him before he starts cussing out your poor Joon. "He passed away a few years back in an accident."
"Oh god, I'm so sorry." That's all Yoongi says and the silence between the two of you turns into something uncomfortable.
"Anyways, about the presentation. What should I do to retrieve it? If it is even possible." You say cutting the tension and look towards your screen.
"There is a screen viewing software. I will be able to see your screen and use it. Can you give me your mail id? I will share the software details there?" Yoongi asks returning back to his customer service persona.
After a series of steps and downloading the said software, Yoongi guides you calmly through each step and tells you everything in detail. You think this is the most he had spoken and that too surprisingly without any rude comments. Once he successfully reinstates your presentation from one of the folders within the app, you are overjoyed.
"Thank you so much." You say over and over again.
"It's alright. Kind of my job, you know." Yoongi says with a small chuckle. "Call if you run into trouble again."
"Thank you." You say and the line is about to disconnect when you add, "Oh and, I didn't imagine a big buff guy crying over the software. I imagined someone small like a Chili pepper." You say letting out a laugh before hanging up the call.
"This is the first time I'm seeing you smile."
Jay's voice brings back Yoongi's attention from the screen and is immediately gifted with an expletive to which the man just laughs and turns his chair around to have a good look at his now grumpy friend.
"Who's got you smiling like that? Don't tell me you are flirting with some chick during the workhours." Jay asked with a frown.
"It was a work call and no I wasn't flirting. I was just helping her out which brings me to the next important part, there's a bug that is archiving stuff within the app in 24 hours of inactivity. You should get that looked at with the bossman." Yoongi turns towards his screen pretending to work while Jay stands irritated and shaking his head at the new bug that has surfaced.
"I'm gonna ask him to get you back to the tech team. I swear these guys know nothing. I'm sure this time bossman is going to cave. This is the 13th bug this month alone."
"Oh no, you can't do that. I can't go back!" Yoongi says turning swiftly.
"And why is that?" Jay questions suspiciously. If anything, he knew how badly Yoongi wanted to get back to his old position.
"What about my callers? They trust me. I can't leave them like that."
"Oh really?" Jay asks feigning disinterest and perching on Yoongi's desk.
"Yes, I know these customers and their problems really well. Honestly, nobody else can help them other than me. It's gonna cause more trouble if you change their handler." Yoongi says with the straightest face possible and Jay has a hard time controlling his expression.
"Well, we can't have that now, can we?"
"See, you get it. I will have to stay for a few more months at least." Yoongi adds his final comment and faces towards the screen.
"Right." Jay says getting down from Yoongi's desk. He is almost at the door when he turns back and adds, "Oh and before I forget, we gotta have you back on the team and Hoseok is doing a terrible job back there and needs to be put back in Customer service. So be a dear and ask her number and preferably on a date next time. Bye Yoongles."
For the record, Yoongi swears that it was the heat that had gotten him red and flushed and he was definitely not blushing. Nope. Never.
