Red blood dripped down, soaking the kimono as Ramaik unsheathed his claws. The triumphant cheers of Inyiak's supporters were deafening, drowning out Angelina's terrified screams.

Rokurokubi's neck shortened before she expelled the crimson liquid. Nevertheless, the woman's lips formed a smile. Angelina could hear the Japanese female uttering weak words before collapsing to her knees, motionless.

"Arigatou... gozaimasu...."

The room brimmed with spectators. Some shouted joyfully at Inyiak's victory, while others vented their disappointment with a slew of Japanese expletives.

"Come on, Doctor. It's time we return to the room," Nixon urged, gently touching Angelina's arm.

However, the woman remained frozen in place, her body trembling violently.

Nixon released a long sigh. He sat and said, "Doctor, you should get used to it. The sooner you adapt, the better for you."

Regrettably, Angelina was in a state of shock. She could hear nothing but the relentless pounding of her heart. What she had witnessed was sheer cruelty!

The television displayed the word 'winner' with Ramaik standing triumphantly. The host delivered a few sentences while the audience cheered enthusiastically. Nevertheless, Angelina had no intention of comprehending the words she heard.

The Ramaik she knew was not so vile. Angelina's mind refused to accept it, even though her common sense continued to convince her otherwise.

Nixon stood up. He exerted a bit more force to pull Angelina from her reverie. "Come on, Doctor, let's leave this place."

Finally, Angelina complied, moving as though she were a robot.

Angelina couldn't process what she was hearing or seeing. Her racing heartbeat and labored breathing were the only indications that she was still alive.

The woman remained in a state of trauma for a while. However, some minutes later, she realized she sat alone, curled up on her bed with the same clothes, although someone already returned the party mask and the strange gadget.

Angelina slowly turned her head as she surveyed her bedroom. She spotted Nixon, who leaned against the wall, gazing out the window.

A few bright lights illuminated the room, and the clock's ticking drew Angelina's attention to a wall near a desk, revealing that it was almost midnight.

She could faintly hear the sound of a helicopter. It seemed the owner of the Rokurokubi had decided to depart after losing the battle.

Nixon hadn't done anything inappropriate to her, which eased her anxiety.

As Angelina extended her legs, Nixon turned his head, letting out a long breath before straightening up.

"Can you think now?"

Angelina blinked her eyes a few times. She opened her mouth to respond but realized her throat was dry.

Nixon seemed to understand and swiftly walked to the side of the bed. He picked up a glass of water that he had placed on the nightstand long ago before offering it to Angelina, who gratefully accepted it.

It took Angelina ten large gulps to finish the clear liquid. She placed the empty glass back on the nightstand and met Nixon's gaze. "I-I resign."

Nixon's eyes suddenly sparkled with amusement, and he chuckled softly. "Doctor, this job is a lifetime commitment. Resigning is only possible after death."

Angelina's pale face grew even paler. She remembered the various threats and the recent incident that had occurred.

She stared at Nixon, her fear giving way to anger. "You're threatening me?! Don't involve Paul! He knows nothing!"
