don't ask where the idea came from, i was wearing nail polish and it just came into my head. this is during the sue thingy so buck thinks everyone hates himmmm. tho him and hen are good, she knows everything apart from the nailpolish as buck thought shed understand, she did, and she knows about bucks childhood and why he did the lawsuit, she forgave him and they're great friends now.

Buck wasn't the overly feminine type of guy. He'd wear suits, trousers, shirts and stuff we'd consider 'men's clothing' but every once in a while, he'd wear nail polish. It wasn't very frequent and he didn't usually wear it at work, but every now and then, he's wear some at home. Typical stuff that suited his outfits which were mostly black, blue, green, red and grey. He wasn't the biggest fan of pink, but he loved dark purple. That was his most used colour.

No one apart from Maddie knew he wore nail polish as he was scared of judgment and Maddie had once found him stealing hers before she moved away with Douge. She accepted it instantly, and since then, he's worn it around her. Never in front of his parents as they aren't really supporters in men wearing nail polish and stuff.

He's always been afraid to show the Fire Fam as he doesn't want them to judge him, and he definitely didn't want Eddie to look at him any differently.

He had quite the crush on Eddie, and no one knew. That he knew of at least. Maddie knew for sure just didn't want to push him to come out, she wanted him to come out on his terms. She knew how hard it could be to come out, no matter how well you know the person or people. She'd hinted that she supports endlessly at anyone in the LGBT it was just a matter of time before Buck figured out those hints.

Shit, fuck fuck fuck fuck fuuuckkkk. I'm late. I have to text Bobby to make sure he knows. He probably will just yell at me then tell me to clean the fire trucks better than last tie. I haven't actually been on a call in ages. Guess I deserve that one I guess. Shouldn't of done the lawsuit.

I really gotta go though.

What Buck forgot about in such a rush, he was still wearing dark blue and purple nail polish. He'd been so tired the night before from the 24 hour shift, he didn't take it off and slept through his alarm.

So he arrived 20 minutes late, wearing nail polish, and the team leaving. Bobby gave him the looks that said 'you're in trouble' and 'we'll talk about this when we get back.' He knew he was in deep shit.

He started to clean the floor, clean the windows, clean the table from the breakfast the team just managed to finish, saving any extras. All while not noticing his nails.

The team came back and Bobby asked Buck to come into his office. The growing pit in Buck's stomach was starting to grow by the second.

'Buckley.' Bobby said, his voice harsh and filled to the brim with frustration. Slightly irritated Buck was late, but that he didn't trust him enough to tell him about what he was wearing.

'Sir, if this is about me being late, I'm so so sorr-'

'You're wearing nail polish.' Bobby interrupted.

Buck froze. Bit by bit he slowly started to remember taking it off yesterday. He never did.

'M sorry, Sir.' Buck mumbled. Ashamed.

He'd been called a faggot once for wearing it outside of the house. More than once. He even forgot to take it off in front of his parents. They'd had said he was a faggot and they didn't want him as a son. He knew that though. He knew all about his brother. He was just the solution that didn't work.

'And remind me why you're sorry, Evan?' Said Bobby, snapping Buck out of the memory of the night he so desperately wanted to forget.

Buck froze again, that's the first time Bobby's called him anything but his last name, let alone his birth name. He'd only ever called him it once. When he was crushed by the fire truck.

'Because boys can't wear nail polish. And I'm wrong for wanting to wear it, and I'm sorry I wore into work, Cap. I promise, it won't happen again.'

I stared at Buck, he thought I was mad at him for expressing himself? Jesus kid. I really need to say sorry. I haven't been treating him fairly at all.

'E, I'm not mad at you for expressing yourself. I'm  mad at myself. You didn't trust me enough to tell me, quite understandably. I haven't treated you fairly since you've come back, even though I gave you a chance you explain everything to me and the team. I'm so sorry that you couldn't tell me and how badly I've been treating you the past week. I'm so sorry Evan. You just wanted us back and I'm sorry that you thought suing us was the way to deal with is. But frankly, I would've done the same. I love you, Son. And I'm so sorry for anything permanent I've caused mentally.'

I looked him in the eye and could see the tears threatening to spill. Pulling MY kid into a hug, he ducked his head into my neck and let the tears out. And I just held him.

'I love you too, Dad.' My heart melted. He saw me as a dad. Sure we've joked about it, but I knew he meant it this time.

After they'd collected themselves, they pulled away from the hug and left to go make lunch together. The team was training so, no one was upstairs.

Eddie and Chim found it quite the shock to find Cap and Buck laughing throwing food around at each other. Buck threw guacamole at Caps face, hitting him right in the center of his face, dripping slowly down onto the floor.

'Awh c'mon pops, I washed that half an hour ago.' Buck almost shouted. He then turned around to find the team staring at him and Cap.

Hen smiled like a proud mum, looking down fondly at her son. She knew that Buck saw Bobby as a dad but since the lawsuit, he figured Bobby hated him so just was never going to tell him. She was so proud that he'd told him and she also saw the nail polish on his hands while they were leaving. She figured she'd talk to him later in private, guess she didn't have to now.

Eddie and Chim stand there, mouths to the floor.

'Close your mouth before you catch a fly, you dumbass.' Buck was getting confident again after redeeming his bond with Bobby and Hen.

They snapped back to reality after getting sassed at by Buck. They were 1 surprised to see him with Bobby and food fighting with him and 2, he was wearing nail polish.

'You know Buck, the nail polish suits you mate.' Chim said, slightly chuckling remembering he was wearing nail polish and that Chim had noticed.

Eddie, however, did not notice and was shocked when Chim had pointed it out.

'I agree with Chim, E' Hen agreed. She thought it genuinely thought it looked good on him.

Eddie secretly agreed with her. He was taking a risk by voicing his thoughts as he didn't know if Buck liked him back and he didn't want to risk it. He's loved him since he'd taken that bomb out of that mans leg with him. His love has only grown since. He'd tried dating other people to get over him as he assumed Buck didn't reciprocate those feelings. But he felt brave.

'You know Buckley, I'd have to agree with Hen and Chim.'

Eddie's sudden voice surprised everyone. Buck the most. He knew Eddie hated him and quite understandably. So he was surprised when he agreed with Hen and Chim. He didn't even expect him to look at him.

'I- Thank you, Diaz.'

Buck understood that this did not mean he was fully in the clear, it was just the start to repairing a broken hidden love, even tho they make it so obvious.
