Only five people could all Buck Evan. He didn't like his birth name as it reminded him all the times his parents would yell at him, calling him worthless, a mistake. All because he couldn't save his brother that he had no idea existed until a couple months ago.

Only certain people could call him Evan, people he knew wouldn't think that.

Athena, Bobby, Hen, Maddie and Eddie.

Bobby and Hen knew they were in this list as he'd told them everything that happened in his childhood. He could stand Chim calling him it as a joke but seriously, it made him feel uneasy. They both understood and asked if they could call him it around Chimney. He answered no as Chimney would feel bad that he couldn't call him Evan too and he already felt bad enough about it, he didn't need to feel anymore pity.

Athena had never called him Evan, but she'd been there during the lawsuit. The only two people who supported him was her and Maddie. Maddie already called Buck Evan since she had since childhood. Athena however, she'd earned Evan privileges by supporting him. She helped him when nobody else did, so she earned his trust then. Considering she used to have a disliking to him. She stood up for him when everyone else was against him. He will be forever thankful for that.

Eddie again, did not know he was on this list. He'd called Buck Evan before, and he didnt really get a reaction. It was straight after he was shot and he wondered if Buck was just keeping quiet about if. He didn't want to overstep so he hasn't called him it again.
But when Eddie called Buck Evan, he realised he did like it in moments. With Eddie. Romantic or not, he liked that moment with Eddie where he called him Evan. He knew Eddie wasn't leaving him again, and he knew Buck was bi so he wasn't going to call him a fag (i'm gay.)
He trusted Eddie with everything in him. He just didn't know how to tell him. He didn't want to make Eddie uncomfortable, but he also wanted to make sure Eddie knew that he could call him Evan.

So one day, Eddie did.

It was accidental and sudden. But it meant a lot for the both of them.

Buck was recently outed by Taylor Kelly. He'd come out thinking he could trust her and she recorded it posting the story. It becoming the most viewed news report in LA.

Buck understandably, broke up with her and has been upset after a few bad calls.

Ones that hit a little too close to home.

This call was specifically bad. Car pileup with a few deaths and Buck was going to move a child who'd died and then the parents started shouting. Saying they didn't want a fag and a disappointment to be the last person who hold their dead daughter. That they wanted her to go in peace, and she wouldn't if Buck had moved her as his 'disease' would effect where'd she go in the afterlife.

Buck asked Eddie to move her, going to the truck. They were almost done anyway. Eddie noticed what was happening just not what was being said. Hence why he didn't go over and beat the shit out of them.

Eddie followed Buck to the truck after giving the girl to the EMT's. Letting her into their care. Climbing in and shutting the door behind him with his foot, he pulled Buck into a hug.

Buck put his head into Eddie's neck and started to cry. He didn't want to fully break down in Eddie's arms. Not in a fire truck anyway.

Both pulling away as everyone else got in, Eddie whispered into Bucks ear 'We'll talk about this when we get back, alright?'

Buck slightly nodded, hoping he wouldn't gain the attention of Hen and Chimney.

Pulling into the firehouse, Eddie and Buck climbed out of the truck last. Everyone running of to do their own things, Eddie and Buck when to the locker room.

Eddie shut the door as Buck sat down. Sitting in front of Buck, he waited for Buck to start.

'It was bout how they didn't want me to touch their daughter because i'm bi. They didn't want me to touch her because they didn't want her self in the afterlife to be affected. They called me a fag and a disappointment. Hit a little too close to home is all.'

'A little close to home? And what would you mean by that?'

Buck paused.

'My parents, they aren't the best. Not abusive physically but i knew they were homophobic. I came out to someone a while back and they outed me to my parents. I don't know why, i don't know our friendship was a joke or something but they outed me. My parents weren't to happy having a 'disappointment fag for a son'. They kept on calling me a waste of space, fag, disappointment, accident. Stuff like that. Just, i've built myself up after so long and what happened with Taylor has really set back that progress. Hence the crying earlier, and apparently now'

Buck just about finished as he started to cry. The memories flooding back of his parents disowning him within a heartbeat.

Eddie pulled him into a hug as Buck started to sob into the crook of his neck, grabbing at the back of his shirt. Eddie started to play with the hairs at the back of Bucks neck, slowly moving his hand up to play with his hair.

'Evan, look at me.'

Buck looked at Eddie, a little surprised. Eddie pulled away, keeping a hand on Bucks neck.

'You. Are. Not. A. Disappointment. I do not care how long it takes to make you believe me but i will tell you over and over until you do. You are not a disappointment and never have or ever will be one. Nothing you can do will ever make you one. Absolutely nothing. You're enough. You're more than enough. I promise. I'll keep that promise till the day I die and longer if it were possible. You are not a waste of space. Not in a million fucking years. Not in this universe, or any others. I'll always love you till the ends of the earth, forever and always Buck. No matter what anyone else has to say about it.'

Buck didn't know what to do other than kiss Eddie. Eddie pulled back smiling, pulling Buck in to kiss his forehead, then back into the hug. He heard a small voice from in his neck.

'I trust you enough to call me Evan. I love you too'

He felt Buck and himself smile.

It wasn't completely 100% okay, but it was a start.
