Beyoncé sat at the dinner table, her body overwhelmed with joy as she watched Solange take the lid off the cake. For the entire day, Beyoncé had been instructed to not lay a finger on the cake; it was only meant to be eaten at this specific moment. Considering how important the moment was, Beyoncé followed her sister's instructions and left the cake alone; however, now that the moment had finally arrived Beyoncé could no longer be patient.

"Come on, Solange, you're taking too long. Hurry up and bring me my reward," Beyoncé whined.

"I'm coming, just give me a minute, please," Solange yelled as she reached into the cabinet for the candles. "Latavia, keep her distracted until I'm finished, will you?"

Latavia was sitting next to Beyoncé; she was currently adjusting the small party hat that Beyoncé forced her to put on her head. Beyoncé looked at her friend and laughed at how silly the woman looked. Although Lataiva looked annoyed, she couldn't help but feel happy to be where she was right now. A few months ago Latavia didn't think she was still friends with Beyoncé; they hadn't spoken to each other due to their issues getting in the way. Ironically it was their issues that helped rebuild their friendship, making it stronger than it was before.

"I got you, take your time," Lataiva said, earning an appreciative nod from Solange. As Solange continued doing what she was doing Latavia shifted her focus to Beyoncé, who was still laughing at her. "Stop laughing, your hat looks just as dumb as mine. Your big ass hair has that shit sitting twelve inches off your head."

Beyoncé stopped laughing and gave Latavia a blank stare, the offended look on her face causing Latavia to begin laughing. "That was just uncalled for and then you want to laugh at me.

"You made fun of me first," Latavia argued.

"OK and? Don't be mad, I think the hat looks cute on you, it still looks better on me though."

Latavia rolled her eyes. "Whatever you say, Beyoncé. Let's stop talking about party hats and talk about the reasons for the party hats. You finally made it, how are you feeling?"

Beyoncé couldn't even find the words to express how she was feeling. The joy she felt was indescribable; it was honestly unbelievable. Beyoncé didn't believe that she could better herself; she thought she would die a drunken mess; however, she is proud to say she overcame that fate.

"A whole year sober," Beyoncé proudly stated. "I didn't consume a drop of alcohol in a year. Yeah, I fucked up a few times but I got back on track and got my shit together. I gotta say I'm proud of myself."

"As you should be," Solange said as she entered the dining room with the cake in her hands.

Upon seeing the cake Beyoncé's eyes lit up. "Cake! Finally, I get to eat my cake. Ugh, you guys don't know how long I've waited for this moment."

"We do know. It would be impossible for us not to when you have been talking about it ever since yesterday," Solange said, placing the cake on the table.

"Yep, I had to make sure y'all knew that the day was near. Now the day is here and we must celebrate so hurry up and give me my speech so I can blow out the candle and eat my cake."

Latavia rolled her eyes before standing to her feet and beginning her speech. "About a year and three months ago on this very day, you made a promise to get sober. You detoxed, stopped drinking for three weeks, relapsed after those three weeks, quit again, and relapsed once again. However, after a few failed attempts you finally managed to get your shit together. With that being said, congratulations Beyoncé, you have officially been sober for a year."
