This is a little shorter of a chapter, but it has some goofy flashbacks in it so it isn't too bad. I've been sick for a bit over a week now, so I really can't do much better, sorry.
"..." Nothing, nothing at all. Jay kept quiet even when he saw (y/n)'s face visibly change color, before the boy gritted his teeth and instead glared at Kai.
"You. You don't know anything." (y/n) spoke, his fingers twitching again.
"Are you saying you do know? Hello? You haven't seen Jay in years!!" Kai was quick to go straight back at the island boy.
"Jay has to tell himself." (y/n) spoke, spite coming out in the form of glares as he stepped towards Kai.
"Don't you think his silence was enough?!" Kai yelled, standing his ground as (y/n) stopped with in an arms reach from Kai. Jay wanted to rush up to (y/n) and tell that wasn't what his silence meant, but stopped as (y/n) leaned towards Kai.
"Shut up. Or I will cut your throat open." (y/n) changed from fighting Kai to threatening him, and took one more step towards the red ninja. Kai didn't seem faced and still stood his ground, even as the other boy glared bloody daggers into his soul.
Now Jay couldn't take it anymore, and he ran to (y/n). Clothes and hair wet, he stumbled a bit before grabbing (y/n)'s right hand with both of his own.
"(y/n)! Don't hurt him!" Jay let out, scared (y/n) might actually take the moment to claw Kai's throat open if the red ninja said anything else. (y/n) then turned his head to Jay, but not to acknowledge his words. It was to glare at Jay with eyes that resembled more of a beasts than a humans.
For a mere second, there was a thought in Jay's head. Maybe if the team had arrived five years later to this island. If Jay and (y/n) hadn't met again this soon... Would these be the eyes (y/n) would always look at Jay with?
Everyone else around them had, the instant (y/n) had started threatening Kai, trying to intervene and pull the two away. Jay kept his eyes locked at (y/n) as the others tried to calm Kai down.
"Jay, what does silence mean?" (y/n) then finally spoke up. If this wasn't (y/n) right in front of him, Jay wouldn't have had the courage to answer. But this was (y/n), even if the boy wasn't in his right mind.
"It means it's complicated. I need to tell you about everything that I've been through since you were gone! You need to tell me everything you've been through too! We need to truly know the full story if you want to fully understand." Jay spoke calmly, confusing and surprising everyone with how out of character he was.
(y/n) wasn't surprised though. He knew what Jay used to be like, and didn't know what it had been like during the years he hadn't been there. There were a million thoughts running through his head, a few repeating themselves like a broken record.
I love Jay. I'd do anything for him. If these so called teammates of his try anything, they're dead. But I'll never truly hurt them, 'cause Jay wouldn't like that. Then Jay would get mad at me, and I wouldn't want that. I love Jay. Jay's parents love Jay. Others can like Jay, others can love Jay, Nya can love Jay. The thoughts kept going on and on for a while before something overcame the boy.
As if his body was moving on its on, he grabbed Jay's wrist tightly, digging his nails in as the brown haired boy gasped in surprise. There was one more thought in (y/n)'s head:
But Jay is only allowed to love me.
(y/n) flinched, surprised and taken back that he would even think that way himself. He quickly let go of Jay, who instantly stumbled back as his teammates surrounded him protectively. Although Jay hadn't even struggled, he trusted (y/n). But (y/n), for the first time in a long time, felt scared. Scared of losing himself, scared of losing Jay.
