It was a somber affair, knowing that in just a couple of hours, they would be laying Will Drake to rest. Reagan couldn't stop her leg from jumping, which Derek noticed as they sat in their usual spot outside during lunch. He was going through the notes she had given him to study for their upcoming Spanish test, (that he didn't even need) which was their next class right after lunch.
"you, okay?" he asked.
"Yeah, I'm just not looking forward to going to a funeral" she confessed. "But don't worry about me—you need to pass the test so you can play in next week's big game. So, study hard, you only have 7 minutes left," she responded, her eyes still fixed on the book she held, though her thoughts were consumed by Will.
Derek leaned forward taking hold of her hand, instantly calming her nerves. getting her attention as his eyes met, his vivid green eyes piercing through her. "Let's hope this is the last one, at least for a very long time" he murmured softly, managing to coax a smile from her as she nodded in agreement.
"I wish you could come but I don't think that's a good idea" she mentioned, recalling the intense fight between him and Grayson the night before. It had become the talk of the school, especially when Grayson showed up with his face all bruised up. On the other hand, Derek seemed untouched, which fueled the speculation that he had won the fight. All he had was a bandage around his left arm, but no visible bruising. Which was odd since she had seen Grayson throw a punch at him. He must not bruise easily she thought.
"how's your arm?" Reagan asked, her gaze fixated on the white bandage wrapped around it. as a small patch of blood was seen as if it was soaking through it
"I told you it wasn't bad. He barely got me, just a small scratch," he reassured, glancing at the bandage, which was purely for show. He had been right to think it had already healed, as he had checked it after getting back to his car and found it completely healed, with only the bloodstains on his sleeve as evidence. Laura had of course heard of the incident before he even made it home. after getting yelled at she made sure to cut his arm with a knife much to his dismay in the morning and quickly wrapping it up with a gauze so the blood could soak it up before it quickly healed. just because he had super healing didn't mean it didn't hurt.
