The principal sitting across from me gave a warm smile, "We're happy to have you here, Reagan." I couldn't help but notice how strikingly beautiful she was, with blonde hair and a youthful appearance considering her age. Despite her smile, I couldn't help but feel a bit intimidated by her piercing stare. "I'm Principal Chamberlain and I actually knew your mother," she continued. My mom? Memories flooded my mind, and I couldn't help but stiffen at the mention of her. However, I didn't want to be impolite, so I forced a smile and nodded along. "I guess she didn't talk about me much," Principal Chamberlain added. I looked around the room, not wanting to make eye contact with her. This topic was still a sore one for me and the last thing I wanted was to stir up emotions.

"Well, she never really talked about her life here actually," I responded vaguely. I scanned the room and took notice of the family photos cluttering the walls, the bookshelves filled with small plants and inspiring quotes, and the exact same photo of my mom's group of friends that caught my eye.

"Please come in," called out Principal Chamberlain. I turned my gaze toward the door and saw a tall boy with shaggy brown hair and a fit body walking inside with a friendly grin on his face.

"Camden, this is Reagan Cromwell. She's new to our school. Can you show her around and help her find her locker?" Principal Chamberlain asked.

While I was hesitant to accept the offer, Camden eagerly replied, "Of course, Principal Chamberlain." He opened the door and held it for me, urging me to join him on the tour.

I sighed inwardly as I stood up adjusting my backpack, as I made my way towards Camden, who was waiting for me with a welcoming smile.
