That must have been some kind of premonition dream...
Why, ten years after everything happened, he have to dream about that hurtful night... why, after ten years of his granny making him go away from his home, now he had to return... to bury her, why, after he was so sure he forgot everything about this town, he had to remember everything so vividly, no matter the changes, no matter the growth the town had, he still remembered the town he left ten years ago...
"Sir here we're, do you need me to take you somewhere else?"
"No, thank you" he took a small bag, and get out of the car, his plan was just, be here for the funeral and go back, he has already booked the fly for tonight. He turn around "actually, could you please come and pick me up at 6 pm?"
The driver look at the pale boy and nod understanding "of course, I'll stay in the town, at the hotel, if you need me, I'll be there."
Bas nod, and walk away to the cemetery, he stood under a large tree and wait patiently, he didn't want to get into the church, neither he want to see people that could recognize him, he never understood his place in the town after he had to go.
After about twenty minutes, people arrive and he saw the coffin, feeling the tears escape and the knot in his throat he take a deep breath.
"Why are you here so far from her?" a deep voice talk behind him, he didn't want to turn around but weirdly it didn't bother him that a strange talk to him.
"I loved her in live, and she kne... knows it" he clear his throat "I'm just saying goodbye to his body."
After some silence the stranger talk again with a soft voice.
"you're right, she was very loved by you" just then Bas turn around and saw who was talking to him.
The years make him taller, and even under the dark glasses and a bit pale face he was more handsome than before. Bas turn around again, he thought that after so many years he wouldn't be here, they stood there waiting in silence until the last person left, just then, Bas move forward and let his heart out, he cried silently and talk to his granny.
They saw each other frequently, she travel to visit Bas at least fourth times in the year, but she never let Bas came back to the Town, sometimes they saw each other at the city, or they travel together. Thanks to Bas' work he could move around however he like and he make enough money for him to give the best to his granny, the only thing he couldn't do, was make her leave the town, she love her land to much, and that was something Bas didn't want to take away from her, so he give her money to keep her house beautiful like she wanted, or to make the arrangements she wanted, they both loved each other deeply, pretty conscious thet they where the only family they had.
They know she has a heart disease, and even if she was in treatment, the doctors already told them there was nothing much to do; Granny make him promise to enjoy their time together so they wouldn't have any regrets when she had to go, and also promise to always be with Bas like his guardian angel, so he could only cry two or three days, not more that that or she would be sad.
A little chuckle left Bas lips remembering his last promise to his granny, just then he clean his tears and stand up.
"Love you granny, thank you for make me so happy."
He put on his dark glasses and turn to go but then he notice that Godt had been standing behind him all the time, at a respectable distance to give him space.
Bas walk up close to him.
"I know you've been accompanying her all this time, thank you" his granny always talk about a handsome man that help her with everything, she never want to tell Bas the name of that person but always refer to him as his knight, now seeing the pain in Godt's features, he understood it was him.
