CHAPTER EIGHT
Gorilla Wars.

The rest of the day was filled with the sounds of ghosts bothering and shouting at Alison. Soon, the night was too. First it was filled with Mary's constant repeated shout for the woman to get out. Then, the moment that midnight hit, the Captain started singing his song. James couldn't sleep. With all the noise and racket, he found himself standing in kitchen, wishing he could make himself a cup of tea.

"God, I miss tea." He groaned sadly, staring at the kettle which sat a few inches away from his hand. "Nice cup of tea after solving a case, the best thing ever." He muttered before glancing behind him, noticing the woman standing there with slight fear that he was going to scream. "Don't worry, I'm just here to... well, be here."

Alison blinked at him for a moment causing James to chuckle. "I'm not like the other ghosts, to be completely honest, I don't give a single shit. Go on, do what ever. I won't bug you." James gave her a small smile as he walked to the table and sitting on top of it. The woman hesitated before turning on the kettle. The Detective watched with curiosity. "Sorry about the others. They are... quite persistent."

He watched as Alison walked toward the pantry, gripping the light switch and waiting for the loud scream of Robin. Which never happened. The light flickered on and no Robin was there. She let out a massive sigh of relief as she reached forward, grabbing the box of teabags. James crossed his hands together, placing them in his lap as he watched her. "You're..." the woman spoke up. "You're not even gonna try?"

"Nope. No point." James shrugged.

Alison let out a small breath she didn't know she was holding as she placed the teabags on the table. "So... uh, you're a...?"

"Detective." The man corrected with a small smile while sliding off the table. He stood a good few inches taller than the woman as he looked down at her, hands in his coat pockets. "James, James McCoy. At your service, m'lady." The man did a fake bow causing he woman to stifle a laugh. "Ha! See. You're warming up to me already."

"I know you're only a hallucination," Alison muttered causing James to tilt his head. "but you're better than all the other ones."

"Why, thank you." He smiled before sighing as he crossed his arms. "I know my... fellow acquaintances can be a little bit over the top. But... when you get to know them, they can be rather nice. Kitty is practically the definition of nice. Oh, and the Captain, despite being a war captain and quite strict, he can sometimes be a big softy." He lightly chuckles before turning to the woman. "Please don't tell him I told you that."

"I won't." Alison shook her head.

"There's Julian, he's the one with no... trousers. There's Pat, he was the one trying to give you a tour. Uh, there is Lady Button, aka Fanny." James smiled as he named all his fellow ghosts. "Mary too, love her. There's Humphrey, his head is probably laying around here somewhere. Oh, and there's Robin, who—"

A loud scream interrupted his rambling. He snapped toward the sound, spotting Robin in the fridge, shouting a loud 'boo' at the woman causing her to run way with freight. "I don't even feel the cold!" Robin called after her with a smile. "Oh, hi, James." He greeted with a wave while the man looked at him with disbelief. "What?"

"You do realise I was getting somewhere." James sighed with a shake of his head. "Unbelievable."

——

The morning came quickly for the ghosts, but it was a terrible night for Alison. She had barely gotten a break as the fear of a ghost popping up out of the blue terrified her. The day continued with the same as the day before. The relentless annoyances she called her hallucinations. The constant creepy flirting coming from Thomas Thorne as he tried to get her to love him. The constant nagging from the others annoyed her to her core.

Meanwhile, James watched with a smirk as Julian tried to push the button for the TV to start up. He strained as he pushed his pointer finger onto the small, red button while Captain shouted words of encouragement. Well, sort of encouraging words. "Well, try harder, man!" Captain shouted.

James was leaning against the wall as he watched from afar. A small chuckle escaped his lips as he watched. Alison soon came running in, letting out a gasp as she spotted the three ghosts. Captain pointed at her. "You! I demand you reactivate this device with immediate effect!"

Julian also turned around. "Any joy with the people from goggle?"

Alison turned around, ready to leave when Pat suddenly appeared through the wall. "Me again! Today I thought we could do halls and common passageways." Soon, all the ghosts were coming into the room, shouting at her with all their different requests and messages. James stood there for a moment, not sure what to think or do.

Alison closed her eyes, trying to breathe and she trie convincing herself that it wasn't real. But soon, she got jumpscared by Lady Button who shoved her upper torso through the wall. "A lady doesn't mumble!" He scolded as Alison stumbled back. Every turn she took, she was met with different ghosts. After opening the cabinet to find Humphrey's head, the woman rushed out of the bathroom she stumbled into.

James watched as Alison hid under her bedsheets with fear. "You've scared the poor girl." He scolded the group.

"Yes, James. We did!" Captain turned to look at him. "That is what we wanted!"

Suddenly, Alison jumped out from under the covers after coming face-to-face with Kitty. Automatically, all the ghosts fired questions at her as she stumbled around. The woman let out a loud scream as she ran through the large group of ghosts and out of the door. Pat turned to look at them all. "Do you think it's something we said?"

"Oh no, totally not!" James let out a sarcastic comment as he shrugged with disbelief. All ghosts slowly turned to look at him. "Why would you say that? She seemed completely fine!"

"Look, James, we get the point, but—" Captain tried to speak but was interrupted.

"Get what? What point?" He pretended to look confused at them all. His then sarcastic look dropped as he looked between them all. "Look, that was the shittiest performance ever. Believe me. I've seen some shit. Now, come on, you can do better than that." The Detective rushed down stairs where he spotted the two living people climb into their car. The ghosts all followed.

They listened as Alison complained to Mike as they all screamed at her a shit ton of questions. James watched with slight disbelief as all his ghost acquaintances chased after the speeding off car. He slowly blinked as he slumped his shoulders, mouth open with disbelief. "What the fuck was that?!" He questioned.

:)
I'm just going to keep James as James.
Plus, it wouldn't be as confusing due to the fact that Captain is referred
to as Captain throughout the whole series until the final episode!

I'm not quite sure how I feel about this chapter...
I added a little Alison and James moment because I felt like it. :D
