Eight Years Later
"Cassidy! Customer!" I shake the thoughts from my head and run towards the front counter.
"Hey, how can I help you?" I smile at Vinny who normally tells me when he is stopping by. "Hey you, you didn't tell me you were coming." he smiles as I walk around the counter and smile up at him.
We aren't that much different in height but I still have to look up some to see him. "Can't a boyfriend surprise his girlfriend?" I shrug my shoulders and lift myself to kiss him.
Vinny and I have been dating for about two years now, we met at Chloe and Mason's engagement party. They got engaged about three years ago and still haven't tied the knot but they are working on it, Mason and Vinny went to college together.
"How is everything going?" I smile.
"So far so good, today has been slow but school hasn't let out yet and I know kids like to come in here on their way home, so I'm just waiting. How are things with you?" he nods.
"Good." I frown one word answers. That's all I got from him recently but I might just be reading into it too much, I shake the thoughts from my head as I hear the bell on the door ring.
I pull away from Vinny and look over at the customer who smiles at me, "As I live and breathe." I look the man up and down, a pale blue dress shirt with dark dress pants. I look down at his feet and smile as I see a pair of Chuck-Taylors. Andrew.
I smile wider as I look back up and meet his dark green gaze, I run over to him and wrap my arms around his neck. He chuckles and wraps his arms around me, we didn't say anything until I felt someone pull me away from Andrew. I frown and look at Vinny who is glaring, he is very aggressive sometimes.
"Vinny let go, that hurts." I wince as his grip grows tighter on my arm and he looks down at me with a glare. When we first started dating, he used to have a problem where he abused me but we fixed it. He doesn't do it anymore and we are happy.
"Who the fuck is that?" he growls harshly.
"I'm Andrew, if you don't let her go you will regret it."
"Are you cheating on me?" I frown and shake my head.
"He is a friend from high school. Mason's best friend, he was at their engagement party." I frown again as his grip loosens up.
"Right, nice to see you again man." Andrew continues to glare at Vinny as he lets go of my arm. "Well, I have to go, babe. I'll see you at home." He gives my lips a quick peck and walks out of the bakery.
I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding, "You're dating that asshole?" I frown.
"He's not an asshole and yeah I am. I have been for about two years now." Andrew glares outside and turns back to face me with a sad look, "Umm, when did you get back?" he looks at a nice-looking watch on his wrist.
"About two hours ago. My mom picked me up from the airport and drove me straight here." I feel my cheeks burn but I shake the thoughts away. I am with Vinny. I am with Vinny. I take a deep breath and smile.
"Are you gonna need a ride home?" he chuckles and nods. "Are you still okay with riding my bike?" he chuckles.
"How about I ride front this time?" I give him a confused look, "I got my license last year, plus I feel like that would be more comfortable." I chuckle and nod.
"Okay. I don't close up for another few hours, are you okay with hanging out for a bit?" he nods and sits in one of the leather couches in the corner by the windows. I smile and walk behind the counter again, I start getting a small plate for him when one of my favorite kiddos walks into the building.
