I'm bringing Charlie home today, he warmed up to Dixi faster than I thought he would, and he let me give him a bath at the clinic today, Dixi was a pain during that time but it was worth it. Dixi is lying across Charlie in the back seat of my car and I smile as I pull into the driveway.

I grab both of their leashes and walk into the house, the whole house smells like baked goods. Cassidy has been put on bed rest for a little while because her blood pressure is wonky but knowing her she refuses to be put in a corner or in this case, put in bed.

I let the dogs off their leashes and Dixi runs around with Charlie while I walk into the kitchen and see Cassidy standing at the stove shoving a cookie in her mouth. I walk up behind her and place a passionate kiss on her cheek as I wrap my arms around her and put my hands on her growing belly.

"Aren't you supposed to be resting?" she rolls her eyes as I trail slow kisses down her neck.

"I am resting, I only made one batch when well enough I know I could have made at least four." I chuckle and sigh as I turn her around to face me.

"Are you feeling better than the other day?" she gives me a guilty look and shrugs her shoulders. "Baby, you need to be resting." she sighs and crosses her arms over her chest.

"But resting is boring. I am extremely bored just sitting here all day. I want to go back to work, I can make sure I sit behind the counter and if I need to move I will make it quick so I am not standing for a long time." she whines and gives me the puppy dog look.

"It's really that bad here during the day?" I chuckle.

"With you taking Dixi every day, yeah it's lonely. I know Karina comes by to pick up the batches but that's only for ten minutes. I miss seeing my customers." I sigh.

"Fine, but we have to get the doctor's approval first. And the first sign of any dizziness or anything like that you are back on bed rest, got it?" she nods and wraps her arms around my neck. I smile and hug her back.

She pulls away but stays close enough I can feel her breath on my lips, I look down at her lips as she looks down at mine. I shift her slightly and then lift her onto the counter so I don't have to bend down as much and she doesn't have to stand on her toes. She lets out a stuttering breath as my fingertips tease the waistband of her pants.

Our eyes met again and it felt like everything froze at that moment, it was just her and I. Just our breaths passing in this single minute. She trails her hands up my forearms until they reach the back of my head, tangling with my hair.

"Are you going to kiss me or are you waiting for me?" I smirk and lean forward capturing her lips with mine. She smiles against mine as she pulls me closer, I trace my tongue along the seam of her lips and she lets it slide into her mouth deepening the kiss.

She moans against my lips as someone knocks on the front door, we both try to ignore it when it happens again but this time louder. I pull away from the kiss and lean my head against hers, "People always pick the worst timing." she chuckles, I help her off the counter and we walk to the front door.

She walks over to the couch and sits next to Dixi and Charlie who are curled up with each other on the couch. I open the front door to see Bailey and Chloe standing there with a panicked look on their faces.

"Cassidy." She turns to look at her sister and best friend.

"Mom and Dad were in an accident." her eyes go wide as she looks up at me.

"Go with them. I will worry about the dogs right now and I will meet you in a bit okay?" she nods and puts her shoes on. She grabs her keys and kisses me quickly before walking outside to Chloe's car.
