In the end, there were three Z-Fighters left to defend the planet.
Two half-blooded Saiyans and a girl.
Karat had lived 13 years in the mountains alongside her mom. It had always confused her why she was "born" after her father's death, but she thought it up to be they got busy before succumbing to heart disease. It tickled her funny, though. The timeline never really added up to her birth; her brother, Gohan, accounts that she was born after the plight of the androids, but seemingly enough, her father had died a year before that. The idea that her father might not be her biological father and that she could be an orphan her mother took in because of the androids troubled her parents into giving her up, which always stayed in the back of her mind.
Alas, she was named after the man, though, and she surely thought their hair was similar. The upward spikes pointed in differing directions. Maybe it wasn't all too bad. The mountains where her mother lived were pretty cozy and far away from what she had called "battle-ready cities" where evil ran rampant. It gave Karat time to consider her training to protect the planet's future. Her brother was an original fighter who fought to save Earth from Freiza nine years ago.
Gohan was the best in her eyes, better than the other purple-haired freak who liked to hang around her home. By accounts from their mother, Gohan used to be a cheerful and studious boy, now war-torn and ridden. By how he acted, you would've never known how carefree and loving his attitude used to be. In her opinion, she would rather him be the hard-shelled man he is now. Despite that, he would still have a soft spot for his younger sister, who would rather tinker around than train.
"Gadgets are just as useful as martial arts," Karat argued to her brother. "I mean, look at Bulma. Her stuff has greatly improved our lives."
"That is true, but when all else fails, it's best to use your head and your fists instead of just your head," Gohan adds. in the past, their mother had set aside countless hours for study despite the knowledge not being applicable now. It was nice to see a fighter who could level out a fight with their mind. It had always struck him odd that his sister, who could be a full-blooded Saiyan like her dad, was more into studies than fighting like the norm.
She probably hit her head hard when she came down to Earth. Chi Chi never really explained where she came from all those years ago. He assumed that she was a half-Saiyan like he was. He knew that their mom always guarded her past. He was always busy training her and trunks or consulting with revolution leaders to calculate the next battle to care.
Speaking of Trunks, today was a day that the three of them would set aside time to train. Although Karat would instead study ways to convert electricity to power old speed bikes during that time, she knew how important it was to be ready for any incoming attacks in the nearby cities.
On the other hand, Trunks was ready to take on the challenge of becoming the "Legendary Super Saiyan," a dream he had once he saw the full potential unlocked when his mentor had used it. For him, more training equaled a better chance of stopping the Androids for good. He would never waste time like Karat did, acting like his mother. But he also knew she could put up a good fight if needed, meaning he would have to train twice as hard to stay on top of her silly outbursts.
Meeting Karat for the first time five years ago was a trip for Trunks. At first, she had pulled both of his ears until they were bright red. Only to be stopped when the two were tussling on the ground by both of their mothers. They had never really liked each other since they first met. It was always a task to try to trump each other in skill. Whether that be with their brains, technology, or a good dual. Trunks had started to pick up sword fighting just to be different from the girl, to be met with horrible backlash from her.
